So i saw videos about forge and custom games halo 5 on pc. I thought this would get more publicity, yet I can’t find much info for it on this site. What’s up with that? Why is 343 so hush hush about it? How do we even get it? Is it the Halo 5: forge thing?

It has been for a couple months.
It is indeed a thing, if you have the latest version of Windows 10 installed you can download it for free here, it just got a update at the same time the X1 version did, it now has a custom games browser, so you can forge or find games to play on PC, 343i is not hush hush about it you just didn’t search very well, they even have a support forum for it and a sticky thread on the Halo 5 forum titled “Download Halo 5 Forge”.
Since nobody wants to answer your question - yes. It is Halo: 5 Forge. You can download it for free from the Windows 10 store app.
EDIT:
^
Huh. Thanks for the info. I really thought this would be a bigger deal and yet I only heard about it recently. What’s the community size for it at the moment? Has the pc community been receptive of it?
Dude, it’s awesome. My PC can’t handle it (I don’t really game on mine except for a couple of old games … it’s only got 4gb of RAM and right now I just play Halo CE SPV3 and Witcher 1 … it’s just a laptop) but I’m excited about it nonetheless.
The stuff forgers are coming up with on there is awesome. They’re building forge maps and custom games on PCs that are much more powerful than Xboxes then sharing them with us. The forge program on PC is a lot more intricate; mouse and keyboard support is a lot better and more precise for map building than a controller and instead of rotating an object with the analog stick, they can actually type in the exact degree of rotation they want … so they can build larger more detailed maps from what I understand.
But anyway, Halo 5 on PC is only Forge and Customs, so no Campaign, Warzone, or Arena, but still, Halo on PC is a big deal.
It supports a 5k resolution (which I didn’t know was a thing yet. Are there even 5k monitors? I’m behind on my tech, apparently), and now that we have a custom games browser, those of us on Xbox can play online via matchmaking with those on PC instead of just invite only. Which is amazing.
And yeah, I don’t know why this isn’t a bigger deal or Microsoft & 343 aren’t flying banners around saying “Halo 5 is on PC!!!” … maybe because it’s just Forge and you need to have an Xbox as well or else you just bought Halo 5 with no intention of playing the Campaign or the rest of the multiplayer suite. And it’s Windows 10 only.
So yeah, maybe that’s why.
But still!!!
So pc players can play with xbox players in custom games? How is that going?

Guess they don’t want to be called out on “False Advertising” by folks for saying something like ‘Halo 5 on PC’ but then it turns out its only a portion of the game. So they just keep it simple and say ‘H5 Forge’, but with the custom games browser being there now it’s more like… I guess you could say “Halo 5: Lite Edition” or something xD
Just missing a few game modes and matchmaking, but otherwise its all there and free, for the low low cost of requiring Windows 10.
But given how well it’s been going, I almost expect Halo 6 to get a dual release like Halo Wars 2 is. Makes perfect sense to do so.

Wait, you don’t have to own Halo 5 to download it for free? Wow.

Don’t even need to own an Xbox or a Live Gold subscription. Just have to have Windows 10 and a computer that can handle the game.

At least you can do things on your laptop. My terrible laptop can hardly even handle Chrome, much less Halo CE on MINIMUM settings. Halo 5 Forge is one of the main reasons I want a new PC.

My laptop can handle it judging by the minimum requirements… Except I “downgraded” to Windows 7 after getting it back from the repair shop when its cooling fan stopped working, since I was getting sick and tired of Win10 blocking Zbrush and some of my games from “accessing hardware settings” and generally crashing them in the process.
So no PC Halo for me sadly enough, because of some dumb feature Win10 kept using to mess with me. No easy way to work around it either, unlike User Account Control things.
