I’ve seen so much comparison lately for halo infinite and destiny 2, and i wanted to explore this.
Comments on social media stating the fact that games like destiny 2 is releasing around 4 seasons a year, a new campaign, endless cosmetics and activities/challenges where infinite has had barely two seasons and nothing to do around it.
Sure, this is true. Halo infinite is not in a good place at all- the community does have a right to be so frustrated at the lack of content.
But truthfully, anyone who played destiny 2 at launch will know that that game was in that exact same situation - it has taken bungie literally years of learning to get into the rhythm of pounding out content like they do today. Unfortunately , 343i are no different- they too have this learning curve to overcome. Trying to compare destiny 2 at its peak to infinites current state OR people saying 343 should be fired is just stupid in my opinion. Thinking about it, i honestly don’t think many shooter style games have good launches anymore. The only shooters that do have that good flow of content are the ones that have had many years of experience in it. Its been a terrible launch for infinite there’s no denying it- the next few months are gunna be dry. But, 343 are more than competent to get this right and deliver the game we want. We all just gotta hang in there a little longer and remain positive!
Peace
I’m not just gonna sit back and be like, “well, it’ll get better at some point”, and hope for the best. 343 had made constant failure after constant failure for the last decade and nothing has changed. We need to let it be known that things have to seriously change. Primarily, management HAS to be change NOW. This absolute travesty can’t continue anymore. I want Infinite and Halo as a whole to succeed, but to just turn a blind eye and not acknowledge the issues at 343 can’t continue anymore.
How can you sit there and tell us that with a straight face when 343 have had a decade to get it right and they have failed miserably with each release
343i wouldn’t be under such heat if they announced that Halo Infinite was an early release. The entire game feels like early access. All the features of a full release are on their ‘road map’.
Succeed for another 1-2 years until they decide to ax Infinite and move on to their next Halo game.
being #17 on XBL is not sustainable for a F2P microtransaction dependant game, Infinite would need to be a top 10 game at least for a long time to last. F2P games are not like paid games, their longevity is entirely based on how long they stay relevant, Infinite is already pretty unpopular and in the next few months it’ll only drop with MW2 coming out, if it had some kind of content to sustain people it wouldn’t bleed as much but it doesn’t and won’t for another 6 months.
Edit: Infinite is in freefall, it can bounce back possibly, but the chances are unlikely. Even if a great BR mode comes out March by that time many could’ve already left to not return. Its a slowly sinking ship.
People have been saying 343 will succeed for the last 10 years. We need to stop being like, “Let’s give them a chance, things will get better.” No. Enough is enough. Change at 343 needs to happen NOW. This game’s reputation is utterly dead, and I seriously don’t think it’ll survive to season 3, with decreasing numbers with every day. I’m done giving them a pass. Change has to happen now.
Sitting back and letting them continue with their garbage development practices is only going to encourage that behaviour.
They have had 4 chances to produce a complete and enjoyable title. They have failed every single time. Yet, people just sit back and say “At least it isn’t [Insert arbitrarily worse game here]”. The toxicly positive players are equally at fault for this disaster of a studio, and are arguably the more dangerous form of toxic player/fan.
All this reads like is that you didn’t play Destiny 2,
D2 was content light at worse, it still had a Ton of stuff and it and an actual progression system.
Diffrent Classes to play with different cosmetics, and a base game end goal.
Halo Infinite is the Death Vally of content,
In that it has none. Just a Vast Desert of nothing.
Destiny 2, AT ITS WORSE.
Has more than 20 times the content that Halo infinite has even if you were playing since day 1.
“Toxic positivity” is honestly the best way to put it. 343 has only had failure after failure yet there are STILL people out here trying to defend them or claim they just “need more time” which ultimately enables this garbage practice to continue.
There is zero room for defending 343, you’re just in denial at this point if you think fans need to just “be patient”.
I wouldn’t get my hopes up on it if I were you.
Came here to say this. Destiny 2 launched with coop campaign, raid, MP, 4/5 different locations, hundreds of weapons and armor with their own stats, 3 playable classes, weapon and amor mods.
First time there has ever been a “match XP beta” but go off.
You mean the same way they did H4 right? Or the same way they did H5 right? Or the way MMC went fully right? They have released 4 Halo games and none of it was any close to a point where its fair to state, that they are competent to get this right. Cause the clearly are not.
Yes. “Hang in there and stay positive” after…. How many years of development? After…. How the release of MCC went? After…… whatever Halo 4 and 5 were?
We are out of patience and positivity. I actually liked the gameplay of infinite.
The lack of content, the shallow map pool, the refusal to add OG playlists permanently, the stinging monetization, the lack of other Halo staples at launch, is inexcusable.
We are tired of hearing “we’re listening!” And nothing being done and tired of hearing “the coolest is coming!”
It SHOULD be here already. It SHOULD have launched with the “coolest content ever.” The blueprint has been there since CE; but they keep failing and failing.
outright cancelled split screen 4 months added to this season forge pushed back to november and will prob release even later. in fact with release and everything surrounding it Halo infinite was already irredeemable to begin with and as the months go by they prove just how irredeemable it is and that it truly is irredeemable. Personally I found d2 to be pretty great early on and I know plenty of people who think the same
that’s optimistic thinking they’ll not just cut support for this game and make a dating sim or something like that considering how they’ve treated the IP the past year alone
too many people are hopeful and still buy cosmetics they wont cut this game. and they made a killer amount off of it already
The difference between Destiny 2 and Infinite is that Destiny has Bungie making it, 343 launched the latter.
You got one developer that singlehandedly revolutionized the FPS genre and continues to set trends with most new AAA games.
Then there’s 343 which copies every game on the market and still fails to deliver on every account.
I’ve commented on a few different posts since a few months after the game came out. At first voicing concerns, then a little later frustrations, then finally straight up admonishment of 343’s handling of everything at this point. I want to be very clear with what I say next, so that there can be no misinterpretation, no naive fanboys or trolls trying to poke holes or be contrarian nuisances, I want this to be understood clearly, so that the sensible members of this community can understand what is truly needed for this game at this point and maybe, maybe somehow we can get this across to 343 and sooner than later it can be fixed.
The issue right now, and I used the singular for a reason, is not events, it’s not maps or content, and it certainly is not anything to do with cosmetics or rewards or any of those tertiary distractions. It’s simply the playability and functionality of this game. I’ve played every halo game for the last 20 years, extensively. I’ve also played dozens of other top tier multiplayer games as well in that time. No game is perfect, all have flaws in designs, server issues, game mechanic issues, etc. Some have been worse than others, but in this current age, with the time and resources 343 had to make this game, there are no excuses for its current state and there certainly are no excuses for the decisions they are making when these issues are still present.
Campaign coop won’t save this game, nor will new maps, nor battle pass event nonsense. These things won’t rectify the issues that I experience in nearly every MP match I play, wherein I am 2 shot, my grenades explode on peoples direct body’s to little effect, my sticks bounce off or go through people, rockets are utterly inconsistent at best and melees might as well not even be attempted and half of my deaths are when I’m well behind cover. That’s a short list and if you play this game enough and are at a skill level of average or above, you don’t need me to explain further, you know how the game should perform. It’s not just widespread at this point, it’s the norm, it’s so common and prevalent that I consider the game to be unplayable. I stopped playing for a bit, came back to try again and honestly it’s worse now. It’s now been shelved for good, I simply cannot support a game that is this broken, with a developer who seems to be actively ignoring the truly important issues. Desync, server issues, lag, gameplay mechanics, I don’t care what people call them or the technically correct way to label them, the game does not play correctly way more often than not…it’s as simple as that.
Coming up on a year now and still this issue that should never have been present anywhere near to this extent is still raging onwards….it’s simply abhorrent. It makes me so angry when I see the posts about cosmetics or the battle pass or literally anything other than fixing the major, truly important and should be the number one priority for 343, of fixing the games broken mechanics. At its core, the game is awesome, sans desync, sans free to play nonsense, they have a great foundation, but they built it on loose sand and seemingly have no plans of fixing that anytime soon (maybe not ever).
The thing I always come back to in my mind is this: I have no idea if I’m even decent at this game any longer. If I’m being 2 shot, if my nades don’t damage people when they explode directly on them, or my melees with a resounding thud in peoples back don’t count as an assassination (or worse yet don’t even register on their side), then it stands to reason that when I have good plays, when I outshoot two people in a 2 on 1 fight against me and “out BR” them both for the double kill….did I actually earn that? Or was this game simply not working correctly for them in that moment, and for me in that moment it did not have any issue. Its broken to the point where you can’t even truly tell (at least not consistently) at a certain skill level and above if you truly beat or outplayed someone. That’s not a game I can justify playing at this point. I was excited for this game ever since it was announced, and to say that my bubble has been burst and the excitement has been killed, would be an understatement.
No more defending the makers, no more excuses, it’s a simple consumer based world we live in when you boil it down. Either someone made something that works and is viable, or they didn’t. If they didn’t, they can then fix it (promptly and appropriately) or let it drag on and go the route of either apathy or ineptitude….there is no middle. Trying is fine, unless you keep doing it with no positive results…then it’s failure. At this point their focus is scattered at best and this free to play nonsense has muddied the once pure waters of this amazing series. It’s just, truly a shame…
I have been told this hundreds of times over the past half decade. While I respect your opinion I must ask if you have anything to ground it on, or if you have any reassurance to those who differ from your optimism that this isnt another example of toxic positivity built to placate the audience into another failure?
My simpliest question would be: what is the maximum timeframe you would qualify as a “little longer”? 3 months? a year? 3 years? 10?
For me anything other than the first two would be extremely unacceptable (I also said the same thing a year ago on a near identical thread…so ya know.)
