Bring the Ranking system back! im probably the one of many others who have requested it. even in halo reach, people boosted commendations. Halo 4 too people will boost their weapon commendation. there is always a way for someone to boost in a game, so why take something good from the game?
The ranking system is coming back. It just wont be visible in-game.
Whats the difference of it not being visible & now?
Boosting wasn’t the only issue back then and those issues will probably flood right back with the new ranking system if it isn’t regulated properly.
> Whats the difference of it not being visible & now?
I don’t think we know all the specifics yet. I’m assuming it’ll be pretty much like Halo 3’s ranking system, but only visible on Waypoint. It had better match you up with people your own skill level too, otherwise it’ll be pointless.
> Boosting wasn’t the only issue back then and those issues will probably flood right back with the new ranking system if it isn’t regulated properly.
That’s why I hope it never comes back and just stays visible on Waypoint. Even for other Halo games.
All it will do is start trouble. The tryhards want it to just talk yoink and help with their self esteem issues.
It serves no real purpose to the game.
Did Halo CE have it? No. Did it ruin that game? No. Does any Halo game need it? No.
Will it cause a ton of unnecessary issues with Halo? Yes!
Couldn’t care less for boosters. I just expect they get what they are intended to get.
They are adding ranking, but they can’t make it visual. But, I am kinda glad they aren’t.
One, it causes someone to rank up accounts and they sell them, just what had happened in Halo 3.
Two, it didn’t really bring any positive outcomes for other players, for example:
Player A has skill rank 50. Player B has skill rank 45. Both of them comment on each other. Guess what each of them would say?
Player A: Leave Halo kid, you are not good
Player B: How much did you pay for that 50?
This was pretty common throughout Halo 3 in the ranked playlist, for it simply being visible. Plus, there was almost to none positive players back then. Anyone noticed this before hand?

Bragging is natural, anyone that is any higher status will do it some day in some kind of form. It’s human nature. Accomplishments were intended to have visible medallions, if not competitors would not be as enthused as to get it. The reason there is so much criticism in Halo with the ranking system in my opinion is because many of the players are immature. Even with Halo: Reach and Halo 4 people criticised and created contention over having a higher and lower experience rank. This even happened via our choice of armour and colour and play-style. Players shouldn’t have a problem with criticism on games, we have a feature to mute that player and we will most likely never see them again. However in real life we do not have the luxury. I think the CSR ranking system should be visible to entice competitiveness because it did feel good when you ranked up, it did and having it there was the ability to prove it; without that it’s just a stat.
I’d rather spend two minutes pulling up my laptop, turning it on, loading up Waypoint, and checking my number than playing 80% of my games with boosters, cheaters, and derankers.
And even if I don’t feel like pulling up my laptop to look at a number, I’ll be on Waypoint eventually. I’m on it nearly every night on the Forums.
So, this invisible number doesn’t affect me at all. I used to complain about it being invisible, but now that I’ve thought about it for a while, I’m glad it’s invisible. How many derankers will I see, and how many people will buy an invisible number that they don’t even know is right or not? Not very many. Not very many at all. And if 343i makes the 1-50 as tough as Halo 2’s was… None will work for an account they’re just going to sell. None at all.
And even if you think I’m all invalid and what not, oh well. I just pity the fools that bought the 50’s. Sad. So sad.
And Yoink! those derankers that would leave games and make me lose because of it! Thanks for ruining my games! Jerks!
> Bragging is natural, anyone that is any higher status will do it some day in some kind of form.
And that is exactly why 343i did NOT and does NOT want ranks to be visible.
This IS a GOOD thing.
But a bad thing for the people that have self esteem issues and need to validate their life and live vicariously thru a video game.
To them I honestly say it is not healthy.
I say this as a person currently in the medical field. Please go get help.

This is you, I don’t understand why you can’t handle bragging? Besides boosters, cheaters and derankers that will always exists I never found them to be a main problem when ranking up. Accomplishments almost always come with trophies or physical reward, nobody likes mere accomplishment without having a reason to use it other than that of the competition and fight.
You really don’t know if this will stop boosters and cheaters and derankers. I saw boosters, cheaters and derankers all through Arena on Halo: Reach so you can’t make that kind of justification. I pity the fools who bought the 50’s too but I also know how to ignore them and prove them wrong.

Validity of existence and accomplishment is necessary in a healthy life. If we didn’t have a reason to try we would never succeed on the level we do now.
It is merely those who have to put down others for not being where they are that have a problem because they do not understand that everyone has different traits and abilities.

Bragging is fine, but it is also a right that is abused. Bragging is fine if you do it in a clan or MLG. It promotes competitiveness and makes things fun. When high ranks go and flame lower ranks, attack them, berate them, and ruin their experience is when the problem comes in and that is a common problem. Why do some people buy 50 ranks? Because they can’t reach it themselves and get flamed for trying and put down. The new system is trying to make it so you can’t flame lower ranks unless you spend half or more of your match looking up their ranks on Waypoint.

We have a ranking system/skill system on Halotracker.com
True, there will always be boosters. But when you implement a SKILL based system which people boost for, it kinda defeats the purpose of the whole skill aspect of it.
We are getting a system very similar to the 1-50, it just won’t be visible in game. I’m going to wait until it comes out to place my final judgement.
Also, the difference between boosters in Halo 3, (skill based system), and Reach, (progression system), is that in Halo 3, players could repeatedly reach level 50, then sell the accounts. Another problem was deranking, where level 50’s would purposefully do poorly in games to lower their rank to 1, then start over. This ruined many a game for me in Halo 3.
Man, how much did people actually pay for 50’s anyway? That’s crazy…
…rank 46 and proud
Invisible or visible, people will still trash talk other players. There is no way around it…ever. I still think CSR will be visible come April.
