I really don’t understand why people thought 343I would include a new vehicle. 343 appears to have a strict pattern, and making a new vehicle would break that pattern. 343 has yet to add a new vehicle after all the previous updates, so I really don’t understand what makes everyone think they will start now? At this point and time, is it not wise to just expect less? Rather than being optimistic, be a little realistic. I’ve been saying for the past few months that 343 was not going to add in the Flacon because: 1) there simply wasn’t “enough” demand for it. 2) it’s not within the patterns that 343 has been very closely following.
Don’t expect anything more than has already been released. Always expect a map, gamemode, gameplay tweaks, bug fixes, and hundreds of reqs. The only update that differs from all the others is cartographers gift, and that was early in the games life. At this point, just don’t expect anything different; be realistic.
I do want to say that I wanted the Falcon to become part of the game, I really did. But, adding the Falcon just simply wasn’t likely to happen, and many people failed to realize this and became very disappointed.
There was never going to be a falcon because 95-99% of the dlc coming out was made before the release date. The 343 team thats left is here to make sure nothing truly game breaking happens. Even things like the medal screen was probally brought out of storage and touched up.
That makes no sense.
Just because they haven’t done something yet doesn’t mean that they won’t. Having bit done something yet isn’t a “strict pattern”
Whether there ever was or wasn’t going to be a Falcon, nobody really knows and neither do you
I know but they need a UNSC air vehicle

That too. It also doesn’t make much sense for them to make a whole new vehicle that hasn’t received, in 343i’s opinion, enough demands. Though I would argue where the demand was for the brute plasma rifle; that seems a little strange to add that. It wasn’t necessarily iconic by any means. Not in my opinion.
They hinted they might add a UNSC air vehicle, but of course they are like EA and wanted the sales.
people made themselves think it was but it was never going to be
343i added in new weapons : The Halo 1 Pistol, Halo 2 BR, Gravity Hammer, Brute Plasma Rifle and SPNKR Rocket Launcher. If they are capable of doing that, why not a new vehicle as well? Plus, they even told us straight up that UNSC air vehicles were returning. I don’t see why expecting the Falcon is so far-fetched.
Yeah, confirming UNSC air vehicles in January, and having a covered up REQ in the memories of reach update. It did somewhat promote the idea that it could be a falcon. Don’t know why they do partial REQ reveals, it just leads to superstition and disappointment, and they could hype up things if you know whats going to be added.

Something I posted earlier today is relevant here, so I’m just going to copy and paste it.
Right. So, we saw not long ago that the new vehicle was an upgraded Phaeton variant. Everybody seems to think that’s all there is to it. But here’s the thing. 343 aren’t completely stupid. They knew we wanted the Falcon. It was all over the forums and YouTube. Obviously that doesn’t mean they were going to implement it. However, I think it’s fair to say they knew we would assume the vehicle REQ covered by an ONI symbol was a Falcon, given that both they and the community know how much we wanted it. So why raise our hopes with an ONI symbol (a human organisation no less) and then disappoint us with a Phaeton variant? As I said earlier, I think they knew we would assume it was a Falcon. I think they also knew the community would be less angry if they had just shown us a Phaeton from the start, or even just covered it with something other than an ONI symbol. I think that a Falcon was in development, but they ran into complications while developing and/or testing the vehicle. We have to keep in mind how complex the programming for something like this is - physics, models, animations, all sorts. We need to understand that the ratio between how satisfying and complex we perceive a feature to be and how difficult it was to program isn’t 1:1.
In summary, I strongly believe that the Falcon was going to be implemented into Halo 5 with the Memories of Reach update but had to be cancelled and replaced with a Phaeton variant for whatever reason. It just makes no sense for 343 to raise our hopes with an promising ONI symbol that suggests a significant human vehicle and then reveal a Promethean vehicle that hardly warranted all the mystery and hype. 343 might have made decisions in the past which angered and frustrated the community, but the majority of these decisions have been in the best interests of business. In that regard, the lack of a Falcon is an outlier - it makes no sense for both fan service and business. I think the only logical conclusion is that the Falcon had to be scrapped due to development issues.

If 343 can’t program in a single vehicle, a professional game developer(remember, they didn’t get their degrees to sell candy), then I’m calling incompetence on their part. This is their job. If a programming job is too taxing, then someone else should be programming Halo. But, I know they aren’t incompetent when it comes to programming, simply because they wouldn’t be a company If their coding skills were below the requirement for making AAA games. So the only other explanation is that they simply don’t care to implement the Falcon. Or really a lot of the(reasonable)requests made by the community.
We have what two more confirmed updates? And warzone firefight so they could still add a UNSC vehicle

They really don’t. Only three Halo FPS Games have had a flying UNSC Vehicle in Multiplayer: Halo 3 (Hornet), Halo Reach (Falcon), and Halo 2A Multiplayer (Hornet). Sure, you may think that you want one, but the Phaeton and Banshee would outclass any previously established UNSC Airborne Vehicle.
