You know, it’s been nearly 6 months since multiplayer released now, and the marketing for season 2 has just started to kick in. 343 has confirmed 2(!) new maps, a new battle pass with new armor and cores, and hinted at a couple of new modes.
My question is simple: what about new weapons? Why haven’t they teased a single new weapon (or vehicle for that matter) for season 2? Halo infinite vanilla has one of the most limited and undercooked weapon and vehicle pools since basically Halo 2. And now I’m starting to get the feeling we’re seriously not getting ANYTHING of that sort for 9 months into the game, MINIMUM?
The additions to Halo 5’s sandbox in its first 6 months absolutely clobber those we’ve gotten in this “live service” game so far.
To make a long story short, not getting a single new weapon or vehicle this season would be a major L to add to the ever-growing pile.

No new weapons, yet. Game needs more fixes to sandbox, netcode and more maps. I’m certain we will get new weapons soon, this season can’t drop a new weapon given how many no hitregs on sentinel beams can bring.

I wouldn’t expect any new weapons at this point. If they had something that fundamentally big for the gameplay, I think we’d have heard a
343 promote it by now; I think they’re incentivized to maximize their salesmanship for S2, because this game needs a major influx of hype and revitalized player count.
The continued tuning of the weapons sandbox as it exists also suggests to me that 343i isn’t at all comfortable introducing additional wrinkles into that system at the moment.

new weapons and vehicles would be nice… even returning ones would be fantastic… but i doubt anything new to this game will come till forge. they’l strive there

I also wish there were some new weapons coming into the Sandbox, and I’m suprised they aren’t trying to implement a few changes per season so they can carefully make tweaks as new additions are made. For example, how hard could it be to add two new weapons per season?
Season 2: 343 announces they are adding Tier 1 SMG’s (the game needs more automatic weapons - the AR is the only true standard automatic weapon in the game).
- M7 SMG (Kinetic / Auto / Short)
- The M7 SMG has a faster fire rate and larger ammo capacity (60 rounds) than the MA40 AR making it a deadly short range weapon, however its low damage and heavy recoil make it inneffective at range.
1a Variant: M7S “ODST” (Kinetic / Auto / Short - Mid)
- Suppressed version with a scope for increased range and control but smaller ammo capacity (48 rounds).
- T-25 Brute Plasma Rifle (Plasma / Auto / Short)
- The Brute Plasma Rifle has become the standard version used by the Banished. It has a fast rate of fire and is very effective vs shields, but it overheats quickly leaving less margin for error.
2a Variant: T-25 Plasma Rifle (Plasma / Auto / Short - Mid)
- The classic Plasma Rifle has a slower rate of fire but overheats slower and is more effective over range. This isbthe preffered version used by the Elites.
Tweaks to accomadate new additions:
- Sentinel Beam (Hardlight / Beam / Short)
- New added Sentry Drop function. Holding Y to drop the Sentinel Beam deploys it as an automated Sentry controlled by your AI. The damage output of the Sentry is half of the manually controlled weapon, the Sentry can be destroyed, and if you and your AI move too far away the Sentry will break down into the Sentinel Beam which can be picked up by anyone.
Edit:
2. M45 Shotgun (Kinetic / Pump-Action / Close)
- The classic shotgun returns to replace the CQS48 Bulldog in the weapon sandbox. The M45 is more unique than the Bulldog in comparison to the Heatwave being a stronger yet slower firing Shotgun. This additionally makes the M7 SMG a more unique UNSC weapon in the sandbox as a fast firing close range weapon while the M45 Shotgun is all about Power.
Adding two Tier 1 SMG’s (that should be balanced to be less effective than the Tier 2 SMG’s, which is easy considering the Needler has homing projectiles and the Sentinel Beam has a piercing laser that does collateral + the added Sentry ability) would be a simple addition that would keep us interested in the evolving weapon sandbox. At the end of the day it doesn’t change much, but getting the iconic Plasma Rifle back in the game would be a win in my books. It wouldn’t change anything too drastically which allows 343 to make tweaks to the entire sandbox as needed.

They don’t have the man power (or maybe Will Power) to fix Desynch or add manual server Selectors (like in MCC or H5) and people think they can make new weapons?
If it ain’t something cosmetic to sell, they can’t be bothered to even look at it.

As much as I’d like some new weapons and vehicles, I think they need to fix a lot of the current ones before adding more into the sandbox.
Not to mention, they need to get more core playlists in like, oh…I don’t know, Ranked Team Slayer for example. The most or close to the most popular playlist in every single Halo game that had it!
343I needs to get there act together first…so we might be waiting a while unfortunately

Respo ding to your topic question: Nope.
They have all the files from mcc don’t they just move them over so we don’t get so bored of the old vehicles weapons and modes
New/rereleased weapons would equate content. At 343i, we are all about minimizing content.
Due to “Priority 0” only two new maps and old game modes that should have been included at launch will be released for S2. Oh. I forgot to mention: you will also receive 20 more shades of blue and 80+ random gray, bulky, lazily designed attachments for your armor cores.
