You can’t house everyone under the same playlists. And you you’ve given people no options.
Some people like really competitive games where they have to call out and sweat their balls off. Some people like to sit back and relax. Why not offer both options?
In halo 3 if I wanted to try hard I could play ranked. If I wanted to goof off i’d play social. Now, no matter what I do I have to play tryhards every game. What if I want to up my suppressor kills and have a laugh? Nope, there’s no option for that. What if I want to play with my little brother? Nope, wel match tryhards every game and he’l go 4-25.
So there’s no social. That’s a problem.
There’s also no ranked. No number to achieve.
Right now we have only ranked/social hybrid playlists and they’re catering to nobody.
Welcome! Cooopur, I agree. We have an official thread if you care to cut and paste the same post there. We need as much support as possible for 343 to make skilled ranks in-game.
i agree
sometimes i wanna try out random loadouts and guns but i cant because i know i wont do as well so i keep my same class lol
also ranked always motivated me to keep playing the game
getting a 50 in all lists is a goal
I totally agree that there needs to be a 1-50 playlist… but i love how sooo many kids that said they didn’t want it now want it because they are getting bored

IDK how much you have played (maybe you’re trueskill hasn’t gotten high enough yet), but for me in many ways it’s worse than Reach. Don’t get me wrong, the gameplay is much better than Reach, but having only “ranked” playlists (tight true skill), especially when it has no rank to even admire/strive for is just a major issue.
I know we all have friends who are either better than us or whom we are better than, and it’s very hard for a lot of people to have fun when you are going -10 every game because your friend has a higher trueskill than yours, making you face players much better than you.
I have been playing with 2 of my friends who are lower in skill level, and now that I am in the SR-30’s and my trueskill is high, they are just not having any fun at all when we play together. Both go severely negative and I lose almost every game I play with them. It feel like I’m playing against 45’s in H3 with a 30, a 45, and a random on my team.
I really just cannot see this being the optimal way of arranging matchmaking. I know there have to be thousands of other players out there who cannot play with some of their friends without doing very poorly, and many of whom get frustrated/upset by it.
Honestly, I think it’d be better to have all “social” than all “ranked”, cause then that only pisses off the “competitive” community when they want to play competitively. Having all “ranked”, I think, would piss off a significant portion of every community.
IMO the optimal setup would be both ranked playlists with tight true skill, and preferably a ranking system, and social with loose true skill and no ranking system.
Well 343 has confirmed that CSR(competitive skill rank) is coming to halo 4 in january 2013, so im gonna assume that there are going to be different playlists that will be ranked with Competitive ranks and the social playlists with the spartan ranks.
Yes thankyou! One of my only complaints about this game is that there is not a ranked playlist option. I want to try to win the game when i’m playing halo, not mess around with a bunch of random people that I do not know. If i want to goof off with friends I wish there was a social playlist as well so I could do this without ruining the game for the other team.

from what I’ve read, they are simply assigning ranks to the current playlists. No playlists with be added or modified in any way (for the sake of the ranking system; there will be playlists like SWAT and such added, but it won’t have anything to do with ranks).

Completely agree. The invisible trueskill works in this game. But you can’t make every playlist ranked.
