There needs to be more of a skill gap!

  • Now I’ve been a halo fan for quite some time and one of the legendary things of halo’s multiplayer is the feeling that your skill actually matters, unfortunately Halo 5 doesn’t supply that. To be clear I do like the new spartan abilities replacing armor abilities and I don’t have a problem with the weapons so far, but here are the problems to halo 5 that is killing it for me.

Cons:

  • The kill time is way too fast! It’s turned into who can spot who first instead of who has the better aim. Under no circumstances is that okay for a competitive shooter. It’s just too frustrating! Please increase the kill time, I wanna play Halo again not every other FPS.- Shield delaying is VERY annoying! If anything please don’t have it restart the wait time when you so much as thruster pack or sprint but have it pause. The shield delay also hurts any skill gap left. No body likes being finished off by a less skilled player after outgunning a different player! If these game breaking problems aren’t fixed I’ll probably just stick with Halo 3 on MCC , at least I know the better player there wins.

I agree than sprinting should just pause the recharge delay rather than reset it, but that is the only instance in which I agree with you. I’m having more fun with Halo 5 than I have with ANY Halo game since Halo 2.

If the kill time isn’t increased then at the very least I would like there to be less aim assist, that way skill matters and matches won’t take forever

I agree that the kill time feels fast, but there is a fine-line between too fast and too slow (how Halo used to be). Player frustrations often stem from no definitive combat resolution, ie not finishing a kill. By keeping the shield delay as-is, it allows players to stay in a more constant stream of successful combat resolution.

In H5G, it is very apparent that the speed dial has been turned up, which I can applaud 343 for trying to do. Whether it is too fast or not, I think we will have a better idea around beta’s end. There’s plenty of time between now and launch to update and tweak aspects of the game.

Yes I feel like it’s an amazing game at it’s core, Since the addition of sprint I do think the kill time should be faster than halo 3 but slower than Halo 4 or keep it the same and lower the aim assist that way everyone is happy.
