It does, but as you said, barely, and as I said, it doesn’t go too far from them.
It has on-map equipment (rather than on loadouts), no innate dodging, no melee charges, and no innate hover aiming.
I’d say that Halo 5 seemed to fit that more.
However, for content (empty and bland campaign and multiplayer), unlocks (nothing unlocked through achievements and many items costing beyond $60) and customization (a worse color system and other more limited options) that’s definitely true about Infinite not being like Halo.
Don’t forget actual gameplay mechanics like weak vehicles with worse handling, smaller and more claustrophobic generic arena style maps with no vertical scale to them, changed physics, can’t grenade jump, no hammer physics, removed alt sword and hammer melee, changed weapons, removed Plasma Pistol EMP, etc etc. You know, well established Halo things we all knew and loved for twenty years
This exactly. Infinite has a decent foundation and I love the gameplay, but the execution of everything else was just pure garbage. Like they did a mid season rank reset and didn’t even bother to take advantage of that and give us different ranked playlists which makes me believe we will still have a single playlist in S2.
Why do we still have this awful challenge system? Why do events still get mixed into the same list forcing me to play something other than the even to get an “event” quest?
The developers spent too much damn time on this broken engine and were essentially forced to release an incomplete buggy mess. Its not that the game itself is bad, its that the game WASNT READY. Poor management for the higher ups allowed this soddy engine to run its course for 5 years instead of doing the smart thing when they saw the problems arising and just licensing a more robust engine so they could get the meat of the game worked on more efficiently.
It’s very simple. 343I went super woke. They’ve cared substantially more about matters of a political persuasion as opposed to making a good game. They have focused more on pandering, and things that are not Halo. For crying out loud they’re putting more focus on their virtue signaling tv series coming out than this pathetic excuse for a game.
This is 100%. They’ll just add their new KotH to the ranked and quick play playlist. Ranked will still exist in just one playlist with different input queues.
