There isn't much we can do

We can make suggestions but things that change how we want the game to work aren’t going to come to fruition because the game is already in production. I would love for there to be no sprint, no spartan abilities etc.

I want halo 3.5 not halo 4 or reach. The sad part is that there isn’t anything I can do to change the game the way I want it. Spartan abilities are lame in my opinion I’m not sold yet on this game after playing it a few hours. Its not the halo I want and no matter how much we complain they can’t change the entire game around for what we actually want which is a true successor to Halo 3.

When I saw the after match “bro~down” I actually started to laugh. Slowly starting to not care about the series. The “feel” is all but gone. Still, I’ll give the beta a run. Glad to be getting time with the game this early. My expectations are low.

Personally I don’t want Halo 2.5 or Halo 3.5 or Halo 4.5… I want HALO 5. Things like sprint, crazy power of the AR/SMG, flinch etc etc just don’t belong in a Halo game and dilute the Halo experience. I’m all for a sequel but that has to advance the core gaming experience not alter it to appease a bunch of players who are probably going to jump ship when Treyarch’s next COD comes out.

Sadly though I agree that it’s too late to do anything about sprint most likely. If they took it out, there would probably be a fair uproar for people wanting it back in and while the dedicated fanbase clearly doesn’t want it, there are still the more casuals who do… I recall reading a few MCC reviews which actually criticized the game for not having sprint in it. On a more positive note though, looking at how Truth and Empire play and their size, I would say it would be totally possible for sprint to be removed and the base movement speed being bumped up a little bit. I guess we can only hope that 343 will at least use the beta for what it’s actually for and give us a few days with no sprint settings.

They just gave you Halo 3 on the Xbox One! So why do you, I’m sorry, “we”, want it again?

This beta is a year in advance. A YEAR. They wouldn’t be doing this if they weren’t planning on using our feedback.

I mean the game plays like it plays its just not Halo anymore. No matter what you read in these forums ADS is in the game and it functions in the game and does give you a strategical advantage. The spartan abilities are crutches for noobies like clamber shoulder charge ADS ground pound etc. Granted you won’t get a lot of kills with them and in higher level play you’d get yourself killed using them but if they aren’t going to be lethal & I don’t see the point of adding them in in the first place. The spartan chatter actually helps and some randoms I played with were actually talking about how they liked the game but they weren’t very astute players so to speak.

Anyway I’m still not sold, I know they’re going to try to hype up Breakout mode which is actually slayer with 150% damage 1 live per round 5 rounds. Its looking grim and I don’t like it for the most part. I’m not going to buy it for the Campaign no matter what people say, the Campaign ended with halo 3. Halo 4’s campaign was sci-fi tacky not geeky which is what halo was… Its all gone now.

If someone wants to imagine that Chief is still floating in space, that’s fine by me.

Personally though I am admittedly eager to see what they’ve done with the Campaign. Halo 4’s story was pretty cheese, but it was just setting the mood for the rest of the saga. Halo 5 is where I imagine things really start to happen.

The Multiplayer is something I’m not sure I can say the same about though.

I have no doubt that they will use our feedback, thats one of the advantages of a public beta however, the type of changes they make to the game will act within 343’s MO “we don’t like sprint” will be treated as “maybe we should nerf sprint” instead of removing it altogether which many players are very vocal about. Thats all I’m saying.

Don’t get me wrong when I say I want Halo 3.5 I’m just saying I want a true successor to the franchise not a botched imitation RC Cola that lacks taste and pop. Yes they gave me Halo 3, I know, I bought it. I’m just saying I want what they did to Halo 2 when they made Halo 3. They took mechanics they already had and refined and polished them into a thing of utter beauty. I may be selfish but feedback is feedback and thats what I want.

Woah… Halo 4 was cheesy? But no one said “For a brick, he flew pretty good.” lol

I have old friends who were pissed about duel-wielding and boarding enemy vehicles when it was introduced in Halo 2 because they were “noob” friendly tactics.

How many Halos have “ruined Halo” so far? It’s most of them, right? Depending on who you ask, I guess.

Yes there were many game changing mechanics in Halo 2 because it wasn’t Halo: CE but looking back Halo 2’s dual wielding mechanic didn’t change anything and neither did boarding. Halo 5 is more like Halo 4.1 because Halo 4 was more of a cat and mouse type of game because of sprint and that single mechanic took away from the game by changing the mindset when making a map because now they have to add things that bloat the map up and change the way players traverse in game.

Didact is introduced, Didact is pissed at everyone for questionable reasons, Didact gets defeated by a single quick time event after Chief flies his x-wing into the Death Star.

But w0t if Didact isn’t acully kill? - Halo 5
But w0t if Cortana isn’t acully kill? - Halo 5

Meanwhile Julian Madonna and his spice-sister Halsey are doing random -Yoink- in Spartan Ops while Sarah Palin is inspecting her collection of novelty Egg-Heads.

Overall pretty good story I rate 8/8.

Yet I bet they still bought the game and played it with the millions of other players. Unlike Halo 4.

I feel like they will use our feedback but ultimately like you said it had to flow what they have in mind. They clearly are trying to make the fanbase happy while keeping what they want in the game. We have to remember bungies halo is over and it ended with halo 3. ( they clearly made REACH with destiny in mind) but this is 343’s halo ppl keeping saying we want halo 2 back etc they gave you the whole trilogy as you loved it so sadly play that. Because it’s clear we aren’t going back. And gonna have to accept that.

I can’t accept it yet, I have to see before I make purchase, if thats the way its going to be I won’t stay with the game. Competitive Halo will die the arena feel will be lost and the community will be complacent with what they are given for the first week and the same thing will happen with Halo 4 on Halo 5. The population will dwindle the next COD comes out and then they’ll have to release DLC’s to being people back and it just won’t work.

Some people want the moment of Halo 2 back, everything was fresh and brand new, online MP etc. That won’t happen those people are stuck but I want what people did to halo 2 when they created halo 3. It was a true successor and played beautifully…

I played Halo 4 for a while but I stopped playing shortly after because the Arena feel of the game was gone beyond disrepair and the culprit is sprint and thruster pack. Its disappointing that they are fundamentally ruining the gameplay that made the game feel unique.

Nope. I killed them all for speaking heresy.

So what you’re saying is you want Call of Duty.

How, in any remote way, is he saying that?

Uh “we” sorry you don’t speak for me you speak for yourself

Call of duty is the same thing every year so this guy wants halo to be the same thing every year so yeah that’s exactly like COD.

I have not played it. It looks interesting … not too psyched about the ground pound or the shoulder slam, but that’s what betas are for.

And I already fixed my grammar, but thank you. I am the forum grammar-jerk, so I deserve it.
