While I was cleaning my REQ collection, I counted how many actual items are there. I excluded variations that look same to its original. I counted variations like Spnkr Rocket Launcher, which is a variation of Rocket Launcher (variations that are necessary and meaningfully looking different, not just skin variations) . My numbers mught inaccurate (I could miscouted some), but it still shows the huge difference and how 343 is giving us REQs.
actual numbers (wihtout skin variations)
12 vehicles
37 weapons (including loadouts)
4 powerups
75 armor sets
31 weapon skins
1 random vehicle
1 random weapon
343’s number (with all variations)
61 vehicles
182 weapons (100 loadout variations, lol, 100 louadouts)
12 powerups
208 armor sets
72 weapon skins
3 random weapon
3 random vehicle
And there are 411 from assassinations, emblems, stances, boosts, and armor mods. I don’t think it reaches 1000 REQs currently, even with 343’s official REQ. Also 57 visors.
Huh. I think that 343’s is right though
Well, the ads more or less lied to us about the campaign, so it wouldn’t be the first time 343 has made an attempt to Hide the Truth.

Um, skins and variants still count as REQs. You do realize that? Even so, there are actually 81 standard Helmets + Armor each, as well as 57 Visors and a lot more REQs than you counted.

I forgot to count visors, I apologize that. I do know variations are considered as a REQ. I just counted REQs without variations.

While that makes a lot more sense, your title is quite misleading. And while the point you’re trying to make is valid for Customization options, for weapons it simply doesn’t hold: the Whiplash and the standard Railgun are very different weapons with very different tactics, for example.

I excluded same designed looking weapons even they function differently. Like SAW and The Answer, they obviously perform differently, but they look same, except for skins. So I considered it as SAW and counted as one for SAW family. With vehicles too. There are 7 or 8 Warthogs, I believe, and I counted only Warthog for my list, not ONI, Woodland, Corps, Urban, etc.
There should be 1,157 REQ’s
