There isn’t compatibility for 360?

So I got the game to play with my friend who has the 360 version of reach and other games. But apparently you can’t play with them without them buying the chief collection- really? Isn’t this just a graphic upgrade. I’m pretty sure we should be able to play together. Now I just feel like I wasted my money

No, it isn’t just a graphic upgrade, it is an Xbox One game.

MCC is an x-box one game. It isn’t the same as the 360 games. Those games are backwards compatible though. So if you want to get the 360 version you can play with your friends who still play that or they can upgrade to a one and MCC, but never the twain shall meet.

I’m going to close this off as it really isn’t a support issue.
