There is now a ranked playlist...

It is not related to social in any way and awards no xp, just pixels. How dose this negatively effect your multiplayer experience " casual "player?

It splits the population, making it more difficult to get into well-matched, social games.

I don’t get it.

Nope, need people to see my rank. Game sucks. What? I can’t hear you over my numbers!!!

You can’t honestly say this in light of the fact that halo4 is nearly outselling every other current upcoming xbox360 title out there… This argument just doesn’t hold up my friend.

It does over the long-term. No matter how good a game is, the population will decline significantly over time.

I call BS on that one. There will be enough players that it will not make a difference.

Plus I’ve never heard of that happening in H2 and 3. I have heard it as a reason of not having a ranked playlist for everything (CTF for example) but if there is an unranked Team Slayer and a Ranked Team Slayer, the population split is not going to do a thing.

So it sounds like “casuals” have the same problems “long-term” with or without ranked playlist involvement. Or is there something more complex going on here that anyone can back up ?

Im glad that both sides are getting what they want. it doesn’t divide anything but it gives a place for the competitive community to go and the casual/competitive community to go

Sounds like a fairly happy halo world to me

What??? Something must be wrong with you.

Casuals have no problem long term. I can go on Halo 3 right now, Social anything and get in a match within a minute tops.

Let me put it to you this way. Day 1: 70,000 people are playing Slayer. 35,000 go into ranked and 35,000 go into social. You’ve already halved the population there. But no big deal, right? Still a tremendous number of people. Fine

Now, a year and a half later, the Slayer population is 10,000, with only 5,000 in each playlist. Now that the population is so low, it’s becoming harder to find well-matched games, and/or matchmaking takes longer. Either way it’s no good. Better to have 70,000 in Slayer on day 1, and 10,000 in Slayer down the road. No reason to halve the population.

Basically I think all playlists should be ranked or unranked. Not split into separate, redundant ranked and unranked playlists, (i.e. Social slayer and Ranked Slayer). This is compounded when the developers start subdividing playlists, (ie. Slayer, Slayer Pro, and MLG Slayer).

Perhaps if later on the game types become more condensed as issues of inactive playlist arise this will not become an issue. The knowledge that such a fix is certainly possible anyway seems to make worrying that far into Halo 4’s future irrelevant .

It’s irrelevant now anyway, because there are now confirmed 1-50 ranks,

Great, so everything is cool now! Hey, if this all works out I’d play social with y’all anyday ( after a few ranked rounds that is )

It would seem you did.
