It’s what naturally happens in Halo when one team is far superior to the other. Why would the better team end the game early when they don’t get anything for doing it? After all you rank up based on kills and time played now rather than actually winning. Winning and having fun annihilating the other team for an extra 15 minutes > winning quickly and getting less credits/exp. Not to mention that the new CTF mechanics in H4 give even less incentive to go through the trouble of capping the flag more than once. What’s even better is that now 343 made it so when players on the losing team quit, new players take their spot on the respawn screen!

“Killing more than needed so I can rack up my K/D is not wrong it so competitive” is what I read.
There’s a difference between keeping the other team in the death screen while another team member is attempting to grab the objective, and simply holding the objective in order to give your team more time to “kill farm.”
I have this crazy idea, now bear with me, but hey, what if OP was a troll?

Great scott! You might be onto something…

More like “Playing the game for 15 straight minutes and doing well the entire time is more fun than ending it quickly, getting less out of winning, and having to spend another 10 minutes searching for a match and waiting for it to start”
> I have this crazy idea, now bear with me, but hey, what if OP was a troll?
Um…what? I didn’t realize telling the truth made me a troll. Or does this community just label everything they disagree with as a troll so they can get the person banned?

But is it fun for the other team? Probably not.
There are quite a few things wrong with going out of your way to hold the enemy team hostage so that you can pad a meaningless number.

Not really when the ranking system encourages it and I have fun doing it. Should I put the other team having fun before me and my friends having fun?

You are making a highly inflammatory claim, and quite enthusiastically, it seems. You’re right that that doesn’t prove that you’re a troll, but you can hardly blame people for being suspicious.

You’re wrong right there.

You can have fun without needlessly making the other team miserable. It’s called “sportsmanship”, a concept that seems lost on many gamers these days…
I think killfarming is just a terrible way to play objective games. I don’t mind playing the game for a while to make a big objective game out of it, but if the game doesn’t end fast enough because people completely ignore the objective just to boost K/D, well that’s just selfish. If you want to slaughter you’re opposing team with infinite ammount of kills, set it up with an infinite kill BTB slayer in Customs. I don’t feel like holding up a good game of CTF for people to improve their score and go positive on something that really doesn’t matter that much when you are playing with a team. The only thing that should matter to you is that the team you are playing on is close to your skill level, which is where the True Skill comes into play.

Again, there is no reason to put the fun of the other team before your own, because it is an online game. Sportsmanship would only be relevant if the teams were evenly matched, which wont be the case 95% of the time without a skill based ranking system.

Sportsmanship is always relevant, and should be employed whenever possible. I play soccer, and it really gets on my nerves when the other team shows absolutely no respect. It’s called being kind.

You know that the True Skill is being much more fine tuned to match you with evenly skilled players this time around, right?
> There are quite a few things wrong with going out of your way to hold the enemy team hostage so that you can pad a meaningless number.
When one member of a BTB team stays in and hides when his entire team quit is the same thing. He is holding the enemy team hostage for a meaningless number (credits).
Camping the other team and killing them endlessly until the clock runs out is called griefing. When it’s 8 vs 2 it’s called griefing, unsportsmanlike and dare I say it a bit cowardly and pathetic.
All you get is a team of 8 not being challenged and having sadistic fun at those other guys expense and another team being miserable, frustrated and angry. So a waste of time for everyone, yeehaah.
And as Cobb said… it’s called lack of sportsmanship.
> You know that the True Skill is being much more fine tuned to match you with evenly skilled players this time around, right?
I highly doubt it.
