I get that it makes no sense to put a Master Chief helmet on the Yoroi armor core (even though it would be fun). But for paint jobs and visor colors? The only reasons I can see these are locked on certain armor cores are ‘MONEY’ and ‘EXTEND THE GRIND’. And none of those reasons are ‘player first’. Something 343i said Halo Infinite would be full of.
But somehow I feel Mark V and Mark VII armor could be very easily mixed and matched. It was possible in Halo 5, so why not in Halo Infinite?

It’s glaringly obvious now that 343i lied to us about how we go about unlocking stuff in the game, and you pretty much answered your own thread there, the excuse is money, they want money, as much of it as possible, all of it in fact, and to do that, they NEED to restrict armour coatings and visors, because they want you to buy them.

The armor coatings sometimes actually require a little bit of tweaking, because of how their masks work. You can see this in the image linked here:

You’ll notice the metal parts on the Yoroi aren’t recognized properly with armors from other cores, look at some of the coatings being applied to Yoroi. They don’t translate perfectly. And when you apply the Yoroi coatings to MK V [B] you get piece of armor that are bright red, and don’t look very good. This shouldn’t be that hard of a fix, mind you. It certainly doesn’t warrant charging $8 for the Blue Recruit armor coating on Yoroi in my opinion, but at least some work had to be done. The visors though, those should work 100% with no tweaking. Money is the only justification I can see behind locking them to one core.

Long time ago as soon as I heard about these armor cores I knew that they would be sets and that they would not allow players to mix and match armors. Even during the first trailers no spartans had any mix and match armors. I tried saying it everywhere and even got people responding to me saying that it makes sense. Someone even said its like cars, I dont think having newer car part would fit onto an older model but here we are and people are not happy. I wasn’t trying to start a witch hunt against 343 just trying to put out a warning and now we can all see that these customization are Bonkers!!!

Yeah I’m not too fussed about the armor pieces tbf but the coatings… come on. As if it wasn’t bad enough them straight up removing manual colour customisation from the game, now if we do have a coating we like we can’t even use it on the rest of our armor…
I’ve been red and yellow in every game since Halo 3 & I dunno if I’ll ever get to be in Infinite.

It wouldn’t be too bad if they locked maybe super rare or event armor to cores (like Yoroi).
But there’s no reason coatings and visor colors should be locked.
