There is no casual experience in Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite is by far the sweatiest game in the series by a mile. It is mechanically, for the most part, a very good game - but it is not fun to play.

This is exacerbated by BTB never working, leaving the only playable game modes being various sweaty 4v4 gametypes, slayer only (for some reason?) FFA, and…well there isn’t actually a third option. Even Fiesta, a longtime staple of Action Sack, is being optimized and played way more seriously than anything in previous Halo titles.

Ironically the most enjoyable experience has been in Ranked. But many of my friends are of a much lower skill level than me, and I’m not even a good player myself hovering in Diamond, so there’s no way for Ranked to be enjoyable for them.

It seems as though matchmaking never matches players with varying skill levels, as I only ever play players on par with me or significantly better. Every round I feel the need to try my absolute hardest and it’s never enough. The way the game feels has pushed all of my friends away back to different FPS titles.

I have been a long time Halo fan, playing since the LAN and Halo PC days of Halo CE. I want to enjoy this game but I can’t do it casually the same way that I can every game on the Master Chief Collection.

So you want to play matches that take no skill on your part? Just point and click. How fun is this for the other team?

But it’s really isn’t supposed to match people with varying skill levels.
The idea is you get well compared matches most of the time and ones you are expected to win sometimes and ones you are expected to lose in sometimes.
If it match people of varying kill levels frequently then it wouldn’t be working.
I get the gripe as others on these boards have made it but I think the solution is game modes cater to non competitive styles more.
These are all pretty competitive game modes.

And are you console or PC?

its even sweatier than h5? yeah i highly doubt it

Is it just me, or has every shooter since CoD Black Ops 2 been sweaty?
Its almost as if the kids who were sweats grew up and continued to be sweats.
They really need some ice and an AC unit.

Hate this argument. It’s not fun to be matched up with carbon copies of yourself every game. It’s tiresome.

They are now able to afford cartons of energy drinks instead of buying a can occasionally.

I wouldn’t say it’s as bad as Halo 5’s Arena experience, but then there was Warzone, then BTB, and eventually, Warzone Firefight.

BTB not working consistently in Infinite really is a hit, and frankly, inexcusable – and we still get challenges set for BTB. As you say, it just leaves Arena. I’ve never liked Fiesta, because the enemy team always seems to get far better weapons, and then its just Slayer, and then randomised objective gamemodes with Slayer thrown in there too (FFA is going to be sweaty). It doesn’t leave a lot of options, and on top of that, you’ll get a ridiculous challenge that forces you to have to play the game a certain way, if you want to make any real progress. You can’t just pick a gamemode you want to play (because a lot aren’t even in the game), and play it.

You only have as much fun as you want to.

Sweating in regards to the opponent and the way you play is 100% subjective.

That player I just went toe to toe with. Were they an Onyx player binging Netflix or a white knuckled Gold player on a rampage.

Who cares.

I had fun trying to take them down with a weapon I’m not used to or with some variation of equipment.

The result will sort itself out.

Sometimes I think the problem is that people have just forgotten how to have fun…

Unless, of course, you can only have fun going 15-zip against a bunch of hapless Bronzers.
