I feel like both Halo Reach and Halo 3 had more guns. The shock rifle seems weird, I don’t see it being that useful and that heatwave gun is even more useless.
I understand that they wanted to make every gun fill a niche and remove any duplicates but that gets rid of quite a lot of variation.
No dual wield guns is a mistake as well. No SMG, no real Shotgun and no DMR. Those guns should be as much as a staple as the magnum at this point.
BR’s and DMR’s are different enough to be both useful. I can only think that they included the assault rifle because getting rid of it would have pissed a lot more people off.
That machine gun thing with the CoD-esque sight on it is also really stupid.
I get that the “Banished” have replaced the covenant so the original guns aren’t going to be the same but using a contrived reason to take away the old guns and giving us rejected gun ideas from Halo 5 instead is stupid.
All the old guns should be thrown back into the game, painted red or whatever I don’t care. Having that much variation adds depth to gunplay that other arcade shooters don’t have. I think a lot of us just wanted Halo Reach 2 (not Destiny) and not a sequel to Halo 5. If you’re going to replace guns with even worse ones that nobody is going to use then you may as well cut them out entirely and streamline it even more.
I’m glad to see that there aren’t any forerunner guns since those were the worse guns that 343 ever implemented but not happy about the rest of the changes.
Multiplayer feels off in general, like playing a reskinned version of Halo 2 Anniversary but it’s the same engine, so that might be the truth.
Graphics also aren’t anything to write home about. Playing the beta has made me ready for the disappointment that’s going to be the campaign.
As a side note, I can only hope that the jetpack and energy sword are actually going to be the in the game as all of the new abilities par active camo are useless.
No reason to increase the weapons in the map just to force variety. I think each map has the appropriate amount of weapons. If you add too many then you split the contesting spots too sparse.

No, that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the actual total number of different weapons to use. The maps are also too -Yoinking!- small for my tastes but that’s another story.
I am playing Halo Infinite flight right now, and in the weapon bench it reads: «Weapon kit - Select your weapon kit to equip a whole set of unique items».
To me, that says weapon equipments is confirmed coming to Halo Infinite. Which makes variety, but I agree with you. The legacy guns should return, as this might be the end of Master Chiefs story. I think they will put some iconic weapons in each season to keep the playerbase steady in Infinites lifespan.

They have more weapons planned and already technically in the game. The first few matches from the early evening matches accidently had them.
weapon variety is poor in this beta, im certain they have more in the release though, my only concern is that having one br in the entire map is quite troublesome, i dont want to run around with an ar or the sidekick for the entirety of the match, i dislike the sidekick and dont think its a main slaying weapon (neither i wish it to be), most kills with the sidekick involve a beat down or simply cleaning up weak opponents, ive yet to see someone perfect me with the sidekick
