The Mangler friggin’ slaps. It’s got bullet drop and button combos. Very powerful weapon for skilled spartans.
The Mangler is already hard to use, with shots for some odd reason missing sometimes. Decreasing the damage would make it a poor weapon to use.
nice break downs,
aside from the one shot melee with the mangler i find it balanced.
the other 3 are worthless imo as they stand atm.
i also think there’s more weapons that are underperforming, i made a post about it if you wana cross examine.
I’m slowly warming to the Commando. Of course full-auto the bloom is ridiculous but pulled semi-auto - even as fast as people spam the sidekick - and it becomes quite powerful. I’ve used it quite effectively even vs BR should you accidentally end up CQC
Commando: it wouldn’t be as bad as it is, if the AR wasn’t a god tier, CoD AK, small spread high accuracy BS. seriously… like, okay. have the commando have a slightly tighter spread, but still keeping the recoil, seven shots. whiles also having the AR do more damage, but at the cost of a much wider spread, akin to 3 and Reach/4
Plasma pistol: it’s primarily uselless because of the lack of EMP to vehicles… ya know, the one thing that made it more of a tool in old halo games… what needs to happen is: bring back the EMP to vehicles, but make the EMP last only a couple seconds, charge quicker, and better tracking. and since the disruptor is the counterpart, have the disruptor last longer, because of the multiple shots to EMP a vehicle
Ravager: after using it… it’s not thaaat bad, the ult fire is unique. but the damage certainly needs upped in my oppinion
Mangler: it’s just a DMR… yay, another redundant weapon. i mean it’s fun to use, don’t get me wrong. but it’s just a slower DMR… and we already have a DMR in terms of the BR, COMMANDO, and STALKER RIFLE
Stalker rifle: …i’ve actually been stumped as to what the point of this gun is. what role does it fit? not the sniper role, that goes to the shock rifle. and it can’t be the carbine or plasma rifle, since that goes to the pulse carbine. honestly i find the stalker rifle to be the most useless weapon in the entirety of Infinite
Grav ham: i’ve said it before, and i’l say it again. the range of this NEEDS to be decreased, or at least lower the sprint speed whiles using the weapon. it ain’t fun to go against because i know ‘welp even if i try to run away and clearly be out of range, i’m still gunna die’ it 2 shots at about mid range… the range really needs to be decreased, and honestly i feel bad getting kills with it. also it needs to repel the player. it can repel others, but not the player themselves
Sidekick: tone down the fire speed. it’s a decent gun, but again, because of the fire rate, it makes the commando redundant. also it’s really a spam gun. the fire rate is all i ask to be decreased. again this is halo, not call of duty, 343
‘Bullets’ in infinite are not hitscan (check for crosshair placement at the moment of clicking) but are instead simulated projectiles. (The two exceptions being the Shock Rifle and the Sentinel Beam which are both hitscan)
The mangler has a much slower projectile than other bullet-based weapons, forcing you to lead your shots more. It also has more bullet drop, which means you need to compensate by aiming higher at a distance. Once you understand this, you will be racking up perfect medals like no tomorrow. I don’t think I’ve gotten even half as many perfect medals with other weapons as I have the mangler, the thing just kills so fast and is so easy to use even at a distance. It only becomes an issue at extreme distances, where only the BR, SR, and snipers can contest you anyways.
It’s a mid-range weapon that strips shield like crazy. Push an objective with a friend who can get headshots and you’ll rack up assists very quickly. If you want to use it solo, camp doors and other chokes from it’s ‘goldilocks’ distance where it is better than the AR but also still easy to land shots, and then quickswitch to the pistol for a 1-tap headshot finisher after only 2 bursts. In the right hands, the thing is a monster.
The stalker rifle fires faster than the snipers with better accuracy and damage than the comando and BR. It can comfortably secure headshot kills at a range while also allowing for quick followup shots on medium range targets. It’s hipfire accuracy and lack of bloom also means it can be spam fired pretty effectively for when an enemy gets a little too close for comfort, something the commando in particular struggles with.
If you are good with it, you can easily use it as a generalist weapon like the BR but with better cleanup capability due to it’s higher damage per shot.
Only problem I have with the Mangler is it’s a 1 shot beatdown. It’s like the Mauler but can shoot long range.
As everyone knows, the plasma pistol tracking is weak and only works for opponents that aren’t moving laterally too much, but it can work, particularly on unsuspecting opponents. It can be a good weapon to support your teammate, or make an opponent change their movement plans. However, the other thing is that it can be somewhat effective when fired rapidly at close range.
I’m not convinced it fits that well into the sandbox and you wouldn’t just be better served with the AR or Sidekick in those close range situations, but it’s not useless.
if it’s worse than both of the starting weapons, and only works on people who are standing still, then yes it is useless. The ravager is the only other weapon i’d say is straight up worse than both of the starting weapons in basically every scenario, with every other weapon opening up an engagement type to accel in. The PP and the Ravager both suck even at their “effective” ranges, when compared with the AR and the SK
The plasma pistol seems worse at close range, but at mid range, it’s very good in certain situations, mainly against an opponent that is not looking at you. First of all, it takes some retraining your brain if you are just so used to it after so many years. Even after I knew it didn’t work the same, I kept finding myself trying to use charged shots on people that were running around. Now that I have it in my head that the tracking shot can’t curve much, I have gotten better about firing it off only when I’m more sure it will land, and it’s worked well for certain things: opponents heading straight towards my teammates holding the skull on Livefire, opponents holding a capture zone, an opponent shooting at a teammate at some distance, perhaps snipoling or something similar.
Maybe similar because with the mauler you could shoot once and beat down and you can do the same with the mangler, if you land one shot with it you can beat down.
