Recently, 343 Industries has only given us information on Infinity Slayer, CTF, Oddball, Regicide, Assault, and Grifball. What about the others? These need some innovation as well.
VIP
Invasion
Infection
Stockpile
Territories
Juggernaut
Head Hunter
King of the Hill
What about these gametypes? I say some need to be changed. Please, give me your opinion on how they should be changed.
from the ones on the list i hope they all return except for headhunter. but you also forgot invasion (which could be spartan vs spartan). Also king of the hill was actually confirmed in at the RTX panel, they mentioned it as one of the returning game types.
Stockpile had lots of potential in Reach, and maps that were designed for it worked well, but if we can’t manually drop flags, then it isn’t worth including.
Some insane mini-games would’ve been possible with Territories had we been able to disable contesting in Reach. (A Territory with defenders standing inside is “contested”, and its capture timer cannot go down.) If Halo 4 gives us that option, keeps Megalo and the gametype label system, and gives us some sort of Forge object that attaches to players like Armor Abilities did in Reach,…
Headhunter would’ve been a lot less awful if you didn’t have to carry skulls to capture points.

Good point. Stockpile would be completely unplayable without flag drop.
> VIP better be in there. So many gametypes were absent from Reach because Bungie decided not to include it.
Actually, there is evidence that a VIP variant was being worked on during Reach’s development. Some items on the default Powerhouse variant still have VIP-related gametype labels, and there are VIP gametype icons embedded in their website.
Either they ran out of time, or they ran out of Megalo-accessible memory (same reason Halo Chess was never finished).
I mention this because I, too, would love to see the return of VIP, but if it was omitted due to Megalo limitations, then it might not be possible for it to return in Halo 4 (unless Halo 4 uses an improved version of Megalo, or another gametype engine entirely).

Thanks for this info, David, I never knew that. I just really want VIP back. Heck, I even liked playing VIP in Matchmaking! It was unique, and I hope they found a way to bring it back.

They talked about Grifball which is pretty much the same. Also I think they said something else.

I believe they said that Grifball is its own gametype now, so things could go either way for Assault. Could be implemented separately, or scrapped.
Properly the former, given the gametype’s longevity.

Oh it is its own game type? Ha, maybe I shouldn’t be doing other things while watching PAX. Anyway on Assault, I think it will be relatively similar to Grifball, but I could be wrong. I agree I doubt they would scrap it.
