THEORY TO PART OF THE PROBLEM...

I believe I broke Halo: MCC I am sorry everyone :frowning:

Me and several others added a ton of Halo players to our friends list weeks prior to the launch. There are many players I know who have 1000 + players on their friends list. Before the game launched I tweeted Bravo that when Destiny launched my friends list made Destiny crash several times because they too load the players friends list information into the game. Destiny has never fixed this and if I have too many players online, it will never show my friends list correctly. This was obviously only an issue at the beginning of the launch and no longer an issue because the traffic has died down.

If the players friends list is very large and they are all online at the same time, in-game friends list like the Roster, Halo: MCC will make too many calls to the Xbox LIVE API to gather friends list information. I can tell that this is a problem due to the fact that when I go online, it takes 15 minutes or more for my Roster to populate! It actually crashed several times when it got to the point of 203 players online… After that it just couldn’t even load any more.

I also noticed that each player in the Roster are listed under a activity which makes the list even longer than what it is because someone with a large friends list has multiple players doing different activities… I think it will be better if the players are not grouped by party/groups but instead grouped by activity. For example, all players that are playing Halo: CE appear under the same sub group in the Roster etc…

Please have a DEV or Tester or Community Manager or Forum Monitor read this.

You know what, you came forward about it. It’s all good

lol i am one of the 1000+ trying to load on your friends list =P

My friends list is only about 45 people and it has the exact same issues. The roster never seems to work right. Inviting people and failing to join will no longer have the join or invite options. Names of people appear and disappear.

Does indeed sound plausible that this could cause an issue. I’ll flag your post to be moved over to the support forum, hopefully one of the devs / xbl team will get note of it and can run run some checks to see if this would cause issues

me too

I am amazed you actually had 203 come up on your roster. I have had maybe 10 friends online in the game and my roster was empty. A few pop on and off the roster seemingly at random. Only once since launch did it appear to accurately reflect Live friends online that are playing with about maybe a dozen people.

It sounds like they know rosters are messed up thankfully. When people do appear there it always show 1/16 for their game lobby even if there are multiple other people in there. You have to individually select Game Session on each friend to see what’s going on in their lobby.

It is sound logic to theorize that folks like yourself with ridiculously large friends lists could be messing with something as the system tries to reconcile all that data to the Roster.

Shame on you! Haha, in all seriousness, thanks for sharing, hope we are all fixed up and back online soon.

Anybody, feel free to add me (username and Gamertag are the same). I will follow you back and hopefully catch up in MCC and Halo 5 someday.
