Theory: Stranded Covenant on Sigma-7 like Japanese in 1970

What I mean is, there were still many Japanese troops in the middle of the jungle who thought the war was still on. This could be similar to how the Covenant will be in Halo 4. Thoughts?

To start, the “Sigma 7 leak” was confirmed false a while ago, but moving on.

I think the stranded Covenant angle would be a cool way to bring the covenant back. Provided the Covies aren’t the main threat, it would be a cool way to add a little depth to the story

I think it’s a reasonable assumption. Considering that the war spanned a small section of the galaxy, it’s going to take a while for the news to reach everyone’s ears, and for soldiers to be recalled. Plus, there are always certain soldiers who aren’t prepared to give up what has been their raison d’être for the last x number of years. Likely, there will be multiple factions splintering off from the Covenant, all with their own ideologies and intentions. I really hope 343 depict at least some of the complexity that necessarily follows a war, rather than having everything go “back to normal” (whatever that may be).

Its been conformed that there will be no purple in H4, if its covenant then there’s a 99% chance its purple.

I don’t think we will be fighting Covenant in the Shield World, seems unlikely…

We could fight the other species somewhere else, maybe even as another character, I mean who knows? We didn’t know about the Arbiter in Halo 2, and he turned out to be awesome, his missions in Halo 2 were superb.

Who knows, my best bet is another SII.

My thoughts are: How do you not know that there’s no covenant in Halo 4?..

> Well, Frankie said we’re not done with them yet, but he also said no purple. I assume he means that the covenant will look “mature” this time around.

Maybe it’ll be more pink/tan like in CE? or orange like grunts etc? Maybe blue? lol, Frankie can mean anything, but anything is cool by my standards.

My thoughts are: How do you not know Frank said we’re not done with them yet? We know absolutely nothing other than Halo 4 is on a shield world, and we’re fighting a new adversary. That’s it. Nobody’s said the Covenant are gone yet

They won’t be in Halo 4. They will be in Halo 5 & 6.

How’s that for patronising?

Perhaps the Elites will adopt the colours of the vanquished Heretics as a sort of tribute. After all, the Arbiter did screw up big time when he destroyed the Heretic leader and the Threshold Gas Mine.

This is what I suspect as well. I think Halo 4 in the Reclaimer trilogy will be analogous to Halo: CE in the first trilogy: Chief, mostly alone, trying to figure out where he is and what is happening. Halo 5 might then follow Halo 2, such that the UNSC is brought into the fray, along with (hopefully) the slowly reforming Elites. Then all Halo 6 has to do is top it all off with an epic finale, ala Halo 3. It’s formulaic, I know, but it worked so well last time.
