Great, then I’ll say it again, Halo 4 & 5 are both great games, story/campaign included. Glad I could change your mind!
I really like this theory, but I do think they are just going to call her Cortana to complete the reset.

They should call her Kalmiya
its nowhere near a retcon. a huge part of the story focuses on evil cortana doing evil things.
If you want to debate the distinction between a retcon and a complete undo of stupid decisions, go ahead. End result is the same either way… at the end of the game, Chief is back with Cortana, who is neither his girlfriend, nor dead, nor evil. Halo 4 and 5’s narrative stupidity undone.

I already rolled this in the thread, but when I heard it, and when I read through it, I thunk she might be saying that she’s going to keep the name ‘Weapon’ and not change it.
Maybe I’ll try and re-watch it today though. Could be I’m just crazy

Weapon is Cortana’s sister an older version of her maybe… who knows maybe she was even made from the same flash clone… in halo reach we hear about fragments of Cortana maybe Weapon is one of those fragments.
I love this so much TBH. Her telling Fernando that we can’t call him Echo216 is also low key kind of hilarious and adorable because she wants her name to be Echo. I ship it. I guess we will see!

infinite takes place 6 months after chief gets thrown into space during the opening cutscene… which is also a good amount of time after halo 5 ends. Halo Wars 2 takes place between both games

you realize Microsoft names their own personal assistant cortana right? kind of dumb to turn her evil, kill off your cash cow you place in every windows computer, and then replace it with an AI called echo while still using Cortana as your assistant in your OS
