I noticed some similarities between several sightings and mentions of a reptilian species in recent Halo fiction.
These reptilian creatures might have first been seen during the 8th terminal in Halo Anniversary.

When I first saw this, I thought this was just an insignificant glimpse of an alien species which may or may not be sentient.
A second possible sighting of this creature is in the recently revealed multiplayer map for Halo 4 called Abandoned. Do NOT watch this if you have not or do not want to see this multiplayer map.

Whatever those things are, they look reptilian, and the location the map takes place on is a jungle, much like in the Halo Anniversary terminal. It is also interesting to note that the 343i employee showing off the map did not allow a closer look at the organisms.
And finally, a possible reference to a reptilian species is mentioned in the Halo Waypoint Bestiarum, (specifically the entry for the Jackal). Not much is mentioned, but it may be more significant than we first realized.

I know this is kind of a stretch, but I’m guessing that all these are the same alien reptilian species, and they may just have some sort of story role in Halo 4. It’s quite possible that none of these creatures have anything to do with one-another, but I guess we’ll find out on Nov. 6th.
