I’m guessing the reason why Elites aren’t in MM is because of the story behind the Red vs Blues. They couldn’t fit into the “Training” or whatever it is. That’s why they’re gonna be left out. I didn’t play as an Elite much in H3, but I know there’s a big Elite fanbase. I don’t support 343 at all for this. Discuss!
Something that I want to point out is that the article said “Competitive” multiplayer won’t contain Elites. Maybe this can be hope that social and custom games will have playable Elites.
But other than that, yeah, I feel the only reason they were kept out is because of the story. I don’t find that very acceptable.
First of all, 343 hasn’t confirmed that elites wont be in matchmaking, but there is a rumor that suposedly got leaked. I agree with you on the fact they should return and 343 would be messing up if they didn’t. the elite fanbase isn’t that big but that could fit it into the story. They say the spartans are training, but the elites had an alliance with the UNSC at the end of Halo 3. The elites could be training with the spartans. there arn’t that many people that play as elites and not that many elites would want to go and train with spartans. It would make perfect sense. I really hope 343 notices these posts and bring the elites back.
Not only does the story mean you cannot play as an elite, it makes everything feel even more fake. It’s like playing a game in a game. It’s stupid. Hey look, an awesome asteroid belt with a 1337 gas mining facility!, now wait a second, it’s just a thing in a training program on a dull grey spaceship. Now I know that it is already a game, but having a game in a game makes it just lame. I don’t want MM to play like the whole thing is just a training exercise.
So the story makes the game feel too “fake,” and the story also makes it so we cannot play as elites. In my opinion, the best thing to do would be to ditch the story behind MM.
I would be happier if the reds and blues were fighting over the last doughnut. It’s a stupid story, but at least they are actually fighting, not just “training.”
