Theory Behind People Voting for Exile

I think I know why people always vote for Exile. Because it is the only map with a gauss hog, and tank. Also there is a banshee. Same idea goes for Ragnarok, because it has banshees (and its a remake, that’s why I like it). People like to use these vehicles, but they aren’t on many of the maps. So, I think 343 should either add them to the Castle Map Pack coming out, or add some forge maps with more vehicles. That way Exile is not voted fr every single time.

Thoughts?

Thoughts:

It is the only map with a tank.

It is NOT the only map with a Gauss Warthog (Meltdown).

Ragnarok is a remake, and a good remake, thus a ‘fan favorite’, so this is expected.
The theory about the Banshee is likely true, but realistically, the Banshee is known to be useless until the Mantis is down, and your team has the Spartan Laser. Otherwise, you’re asking to be shot at, like every jet packer out of the base lifts.

In truth, Exile is the only map that can have every vehicle from the past Halo games on it, so it has a heavy nostalgic factor going for it. Given that the Mantis does not spawn on Exile, I cannot say it has every vehicle from the sandbox on it.

Even if is not the only map with the gauss hog, scorpion and banshee together is very easy to use them on Exile, and theres a reason for that.

Exile is like a ‘‘friendly map’’ even the casual players know how to play in that map.

is less complicated to play than ‘‘Longbow’’ for example, normally (like 70% of the time) in Longbow is about getting the base in the upper place of the map to have a good position

Exile compared to other maps is balanced and any position can help even casual players to have a good match.

well thats what i think, normally i see players more confortable on Exile than in other map.

Exile is pretty easy to play on. I have had both my best and worst moments on it with big team because the terrain caters to all sorts of gamers. It has open places with enclosed tight locales for the gamers with the need for close quarters combat. There are plenty of open spaces for both vehicular combat and the long range guns, and plenty of cover in them for all sorts of fallback points

Exile is balanced? dude lay off the weed

My theory:

People love green grass and tress, and they are the 2 standard big team maps which have plenty of both, AFAIK

Compared to other maps on Halo 4 i think

Even Rune174 (look a little bit up on the post) say something very similar to what i say

like in any forum, is my point of view…not the right one.

I’ve played a couple hundred games on Meltdown. I’ve never seen the gauss Hog yet! What game mode is it in if it’s on Meltdown? Which Team does it spawn with? What location?

Cheers

Adapt…

Use strategy…

The unbalanced fallacy has been flogged to death already. It doesn’t matter if you spawn Red or Blue team, you can win either way. I’ve had plenty of games where Red has beaten Blue when I’ve been on Red team and lost to Blue when I’ve been on the Red team and vice versa.

Crying fowl over the Blue’s Gauss Hog when you spawn Red team is rubbish.

For all those who habitually complain about Exile and the Blue team’s incorrect perceived advantages, the issue,IMO,is actually yours, as a player, not the game, not the map, not the vehicle placements. I, and many others, have worked out how to ‘play’ Exile and do very well indeed, whether spawning on Red team or Blue team.

Perhaps less complaining and more thought into how to win either way, or do very well as an individual, would be time better spent.

Flame away if you must…won’t be replying though!

and Thx…the guy just get my point more clear

whats the point of say ‘‘i hate the map’’

just play and try to win

Exile and Ragnarok will always been chosen as long as Big Team Infinity Slayer is the only gametype in the playlist.

There are only 2 things that could possibly change the players mentality and encourage them to vote for something different.

  • Additional Gametypes (CTF, Snipers etc). If people have to choose both a map AND a gametype then what they vote for will always change.
  • The introduction of a better map (but then then same problem would still exist, it just wouldn’t be exile all the time it would be something else all the time.)

They’re both relatively pretty. People like to look at pretty things, so, pretty maps. Not to mention have more color then most.

It’s a good map that’s why.

I think it’s the best BTB map in matchmaking right now so it doesn’t surprise me it comes up all the time. I think what people have said about it being easy to play for casuals is a decent point too.

I’ve given that some more thought and, I have to disagree.

If the reason why everyone voted for Exile was the Gauss Hog, why then do no more than 2 or 3 on the Blue Team attempt to go near the Gauss Hog at the start of the game? Why, in some games, does no one even venture to the Gauss Hog except me? I am astonished that there I am, in the drivers seat, and no one bothers to go gunner!

The Banshee can often be ignored by both Red and Blue Team at the start of some games. I am amazed having gone off to do stuff and some 30 or seconds later I notice the Banshee still sitting in its rook!

Often, when I’m Red team, other than one dude who might run for the Sniper rifle to the right once the game starts and me towards the Scorpion to acquire it, very rarely does anyone else on Red head for the Scorpion…on some occasions someone might get they Mongoose and try to beat me. It is a are occasion indeed when three Red team people head for the Scorpion at the start of the game.

So,if it was the Gauss Hog…why not a big fight and mad dash by the majority of the Blue team to acquire it at the start of the game?

So, if it was the Scorpion…why not a big fight and mad dash by the majority of the Red team to acquire it at the start of the game?

I don’t believe it is simple as saying it’s the vehicles on Exile which entices many to vote for Exile often. IMO, it is the maps size, its visual appeal, the caves on the left and right of the map, the tunnels through the middle (going left to right) which allow for CQC and long distance shooting. There is the cave formation in the middle which allows access to all points of the map.

Exile has something for everyone and every play style. The vehicle lover can drive or fly around racking up kills and be killed. The camo sniper can hide out kill from afar. Those who like to kill up close and in your face (CQC) can feel right at home on Exile. Others who like being outdoors trying their hand with teh BR, AR and/or DMR can do so too.

Exile is a map where I can deiced before hand, I’ll use this one of my five load-outs and do such and such during the game. I can use my Wheelman load-out and and attempt to yet again drive a gunner to an Unfriggenbelivable. Or have fun killing from high altitude and from a far in the Banshee. Or slowly shuffling along in the Scorpion, killing as I go.

Or, I could use my CQC load-out and hang out in the caves in the middle and rack-up kills in the twenties without setting foot outside.

Or I can use my AR/BR load-out and do laps of the map through the caves and tunnels taking people out as I go.

Exile is a map which provides opportunities for many different playing styles, combat opportunities and fun to boot. The Gauss Hog, Scorpion and Banshee are a small part of Exile,as is evidenced by the lack of a fight and mad rush to acquire those vehicles.

How do I know?

I have had the fortune or misfortune, take your pick, of having played 1500 games on that map! I think I know a little about it!

Exile, in my opinion, is one of the best maps in Halo 4.

The only thing that kills it when playing with randoms is the gauss hog. When playing with team mates, it is beautiful.

There are places for CQC. There are open areas for snipping. There is space for vehicles AND places to hide from vehicles.

People like vehicles…

I only like vehicles that I can drive…

Damn I told the last kid that started a exile thread it is the tank

I vote for it mainly to ride/kill the tank

Stupid reason but it’s fun/trying to get some tank commendations

In the Castle preview it looks like there was a tank in one of those levels, Guess what map I’m voting for :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s probably part of it; though, I would think the crazy imbalance on Exile due to the gauss hog (which is amazing that it hasn’t been fixed yet) would be a detractor.

I think another part is most of the big team maps actually don’t play slayer very well. Maps like Meltdown, Longbow, and Vortex cram all the infantry into one spot, and with the crazy amounts of power weapons in Infinity games, it’s just a fustercluck of explosions.

Those maps would be incredible for objective games, though…

Exile has great sight lines…it plays great for a number of styles. Its one of the few maps that doesn’t favor the blue team…a lot of the forerunnery based maps favor blue due to the color scheme. Harder to see…
