Halo 5 had me wondering whether evil cortana was actually cortana or not. When the Harbinger was first mentioned in the infinite trailer in 2020 I suspected it was either cortana or something forerunner or flood related. Now after the most recent trailer it is clearly none of those things, but it seems to be the main enemy of halo infinite.
So here is my theory. I’ll start with what we know:
- A major part of Halo Infinite is about what happened to cortana after halo 5. 'The answer is somewhere on Zeta halo.
- The Harbinger is against the forerunners and seemingly does not want humans to take the mantle of responsibility. Similar to Evil Cortana…
- The Harbinger and the banished are seemingly allied to an extent. But I’m pretty sure the Harbinger is using them and will actually be Halo Infinite’s main villain.
So with these 3 things I think it would make sense if Evil Cortana was actually being used by the Harbinger to try to get Chief on her side. What exactly the Harbinger is I have no idea. I don’t think she’s a prelate (4 fingers and looks nothing like a prelate IMO), definitely not forerunner, and doesn’t appear to be precursor either. What do you guys think?

I hope your right ive been hoping 343 come up with some kind of plot twist to say Cortana in halo 5 was being controlled by by a real villain and was not herself! Hated the fact they brought her back in halo 5 and made her the villain!! It totally ruined the massive sacrifice she made in halo 4 and created a poor story throughout halo 5! And i love Cortana and the chief being a duo it’s been that way since CE and should stay that way! Im hoping halo infinite finds a way to bring back the original Cortana and creates a good story explainimg it wasnt the real Cortana or she was corrupted by something etc and that explains her actions in halo 5 then i want her back to normal and back with chief were she belongs!! Not to keen on this new cheesey A.I “the weapon” i hope shes just temporary

Cortana may be MIA at the beginning but she won’t be for the whole game. And from the new trailer, the Harbinger appears to be a much more dangerous villain than any brute. And your saying the Harbinger is an elite? What makes you think that?
