This just an idea, I personally have no problem with how Halo 5 is going, I thought it was fun, again that is my opinion.
I know that there are many Halo fans though who don’t like sprint, I may like sprint, but I am not here to tell others to like it or leave, or call people names. By now we all know that sprint is not going anywhere, so instead of saying it should be removed completely or that these who don’t like it should leave, here is my idea of how sprint could be improved for Halo fans.
Unlimited sprint: This is to balance all the cons of sprinting.
Start up knock: If you are shot as you try to start sprinting you will be knocked out of sprint.
Knock out: If you are shot while sprinting, you are knocked out of sprint.
Shields: sprint is still connected to shields like in Halo 5
both knock outs make sprinting impossible when in a fight, making it very hard to run away.
this makes sprint only good for getting to the battlefield faster or hurrying to assist teammates.
I know that some will still not be happy, but I think this is a fair system for both sides. I know this may seem useless, but maybe one day it may be used, who knows.
If anyone had things they would like to add to this, please do not be afraid.
No fighting please, we have to deal with that in enough threads.
Most of your points are already implemented. Sprint is nerfed very well and well balanced. But the knock out of sprint entirely is kind of negative in general. It’s kind of unfair if say a player is running to the battle and just stops because of a random pot shot. But it was a good idea just most of it is implemented.

ya, It is kind of hard to think of a way to make both sides happy. I know some of it is already in game too.
People running away from a fight. Is this the only gripe anti-sprinters have with sprint? I know I shouldn’t be asking you to speak for them (because you seem like a pretty reasonable person… zing!), but it is honestly not enough for them to just shut down every debate with, “If you like sprint then you are a Halo 4 casual who cannot even conceive of the true competitive nature of Halo.” I get that one a lot.

Or rather (and I know I’m partly playing the devil’s advocate here) maps are made larger to accommodate sprint.
The design process of maps now include base movemement speed, jump height, crouch height, sprint, clamber height and the various implementations of the new sprint/boost mechanic. You can expect maps to be far more open than they have ever been before, and to have far more ledges to clamber over (as opposed to merely crouchjumping).

I do agree here, there were a lot of ledges on Empire and Eden. But I do think there was a reasonable amount of cover on these maps as well, cover is something I think that has to be balanced as well, to much cover means less kills and longer games, no cover means easy kills and fast games, it has o be just in the middle.

it is more rediculous that a shield wouldnt recharge just because you are sprinting. HAH. Lets just go back to halo 3 and remove sprint nad make a good game for the first time in almost 10 yrs?

The shields don’t recharge because of the fact that power from the shields is being diverted to the boosters. It’s not the first time this has happened in any form of sci-fi. You know like how if a starship is being attacked from the front, you’ll hear them say “divert more power to front shields” or something along that line.
Lets go back to Halo 3 you say? You feeling like a slug when I’m moving, weak starter weapons, small maps that are easy to spawn trap and equipment that turns the tide of a battle more than the Spartan Abilities that everyone is so against?
Halo 5 is a “new halo experience” but it pays homage to old halo. Equal starts, nice arena maps, power weapon control, map control, weapon launching, weapons on map, all players have the same base traits, no more point based scoring and soon to be on map power ups in the full game. It’s an old halo formula with new mechanics to keep the game fresh.
One of the main complaints of halo 4 was it showed how old halo was getting. The mechanics were showing it’s age because of refusal to change. Thus you have the changes in Halo 5. The console shooter market is looking for fast paced action and, now in these times, some sort of movement mechanic. You have to adapt or you die. It’s better to be evolutionary rather than revolutionary. Take Blizzard’s Overwatch for example. Overwatch is a TF2 style shooter that has in corporates MOBA style heroes. That game is receiving praise for its new formula. Blizzard takes an idea and throws their twist on it and it has always pleased the masses. You have to adapt to survive, once you get past the glory days of Halo ruling the online world and realize that it’s trying to stay relevant in a changing market, you’ll understand this better.
Don’t get me wrong, I love classic Halo but it doesn’t fit in this new market. You might bring up CSGO but look at its platform. There is, at this point until Unreal Tournament 4, any other shooter that can touch it on the PC. The console market is different than the PC market. Titanfall has set the standard for a new AAA console shooter and has now set an example for new console shooters. I love classic Halo but the only place it could possibly survive would be on the PC.
Lets put it this way, there are 4 major groups of Halo players in the sprint category. The new Halo players that will come in playing halo 5 for the first time and learn to naturally play with the sprint. The second group is the people who played halo 4 and liked the idea of sprint or are casual players that aren’t affected by the way Halo really plays to a certain extent. 3rd group is the older or original players who have played halo alot and like the idea or are accepting sprint and think it works and plays well in Halo 5. Then there is the 4th group of long time halo players who believe sprint has no place for halo for various reasons and are not accepting of it. The just of it is that 343 is trying to cater to as big of an audience as possible and in the end there are 3/4 groups that will enjoy or not have a problem with sprint. So unfortunately this isn’t going to end up well for the group of players that are unaccepting of it. Just the way its going to go and probably continue going to go. I fall under category 3, played halo all my life and its my favourite franchise but I’m understanding and quite frankly because of the beta, quite accepting of sprint as an addition. Im not saying my way is more correct then the people who don’t agree with sprint. But in the end, being against sprint is going to get you anywhere but into arguments on these threads. The way stuff goes i guess.
nerfing sprint, to me, is an admission that sprint is bad. If they’re already admitting that it’s bad, then why stick to a half-hearted remedy? It’s like 343 has said, “OK, we heard your feedback. People really hate sprint. So, to solve the problem, we made it a little less sprint-ey.” The issue with this approach is that making the problem smaller still leaves you with a problem.
To steal and modify an analogy I heard on Last Week Tonight, suppose somebody takes a crap on your desk. You’d understandably be very upset when you discover it. Suppose the culprit apologizes and offers to take care of it for you while you’re at lunch. You leave for lunch, and when you come back you discover that half of the turd is still there. “I don’t see the problem. It’s much less of a turd now. That should be a fair compromise, shouldn’t it?”

Can I have proof that 343 said this?
also, in Halo 5 sprint is like a new layer to the game per say. unlike Halo 4 where people could sprint when ever and run away, sprint become less important, it even as a bit a thinking involved with it in Halo 5, if you don’t use it right or abuse it, you will most likely die. It is not as important as it was back in 4, it also is not as “unbalanced” per say, now that is connected to shields, it becomes less needed in the field, but still is useful at the right time.

Interesting ideas but if 343 were to do that, Sprint would be WAY too nerfed.

That is were the problem comes in, you need to find a perfect mix of both. I don’t think sprint should be uber nerfed, nor should it be really powerful.
