Hey guys,
So, I don’t watch much of the gameplay vids (due mostly to avoid spoilers) so I’m completely unaware of the gravity of the situation here (aside from multiplayer.)
But I wan’t to talk about the nades. From what I’ve seen, they have gotten a damage nerf (thank god, no more nukes) but theres something else concerning me.
How do they bounce? Now if any of you remember, Halo 2 and 3 grenades bounce like basketballs, annoying, but if used right, incredibly useful. You could use them more effectively to take out certain camping positions because rather than just dropping dead, they would bounce like a bouncy ball right into the enemy.
Reachs nades don’t do that. You can throw them at the ground, and they just stick there. They don’t move, they don’t bounce, they sit. And further more, bouncing grenades off things (cough cough, countdowns air vent doors cough) is mostly innefective, because the moment they leave a surface, they just fall dead.
This is incredibly annoying because it makes it 20 times harder to kill the campers than it should be, leaving camping much easier for the camper. With halo 2/3 nades, you could bounce them off that door and straight into the enemy, but not with reachs.
Now, theres another aspect. Jumping. Anyone who was a jumper in halo 2/3 remembers how useful the bouncing less damaging nades could be; but in reach, not only did the grenade not throw you higher, it left you one shot away from death. It was also much more difficult to use because it doesn’t bounce near as high, leaving many jumps that could be possible, impossible…
TL;DR
Who wants to go back to the halo 2/3 style of grenades, where jumping was possible and campers where threatened mercilessly? Where grenades weren’t mini nukes and could bounce more than 2 inches off the ground?
