I’ve been playing the campaign for a while, and I’ve got to be honest here. I am very underwhelmed with the graphics in this. Don’t get me wrong, the art direction is great, and when everything’s running as it should, it looks bonkers. That said, the obsessive drive to hit a constant 60fps has caused everything to take a nosedive. Jaggies, blurry textures, and pop-ins galore. I find it incredibly distracting, and frankly, it pulls me out of the experience. I get that people prefer 60fps for the competitive multiplayer, but why do people who prefer the single player, and don’t really care about fps have to suffer through this? Why isn’t there an option for “High Fidelity at a locked 30fps”, for the campaign, if nothing else? As it stands, I’m more impressed with the visuals in the MCC port of Halo 4. In short: this is not what I upgraded to an Xbox One for. I know I’m being excessively negative, but holey moley, I cannot get around this. It’s interfering with my enjoyment of the single player, and I know that I’m far from the only one.
Is it impossible to patch a 30fps option in for the campaign? It’s a great game otherwise.
The texture are amazing, and the cutscenes… Frickin amazing
Just putting in a 30fps patch wouldn’t do anything they would have to go back and re-texture and polly everything to make it look better which would bring the fps down. Its not just as simple as add a 30fps patch. It seems like a huge amount of effort, don’t get me wrong I love a good campaign with amazing graphics but were talking about Halo, multiplayer is the majority and ill take 60 fps over graphics.
I have to say I am not impressed by the graphics. The cut scenes are great, but the world itself is not as great as I expected. Comparing to Destiny or Battlefront…
Don’t get me wrong, the game will be fun and looks OK, but I thought I was going to be stunned by the quality of the graphics, which is not the case.
Oh, I’ve got no issues with the cutscenes, they look fantastic. It’s when the gameplay starts that I feel like I’ve had vaseline rubbed on my eyes.
Only played a few hours last night but the graphics blew me away, didn’t notice texture popping or changes in frame rates etc…
Stop looking for imperfections and play the game.
My issue is actually different, I find the textures lacking a bit of realism, I do love the game so far, but straight away when dropped into a match with an AR, the first thing I noticed was it looks sort of ‘plastic’, not sure if they are trying to get a bit of the old art style back, but Halo 4 had a really nice metallic touch to everything, and this beautiful lustre. Halo 5 seems a bit ‘cartoony’ compared to 4…and even though it’s last gen, am currently preferring it’s textures. I will get used to it though…games change I guess.
Loving it either way.

I feel like art style of H5 is a mix of the more realistic appearance of 4 with the cartoony look of HCE. In fact, that mixture of the two games seems to be shared with a lot of other aspects of the game, like the starting loadout of AR and Magnum and the relationship between the two of them.
