Thel'Vadam's words about John in trailer

And specifically: “I tell you this. Not because I trust you Agent Locke, but because all our lives are at stake. Because the seeds of our future are sown in his past.”

This seems fairly significant in that it (to me) directly implied that John-117, whether intentionally or not, poses a threat to both the Sangheili and to either ONI or even humanity as a whole.

All I can figure is that they think he’s going to inadvertently unleash something in his… whatever it is he’s been doing these days. I cannot see ONI or Thel putting this much effort into hunches on possibility, though, so this means it’s got to be something fairly concrete and, well, doomsday-esque.

Anyone have any theories? I haven’t had a chance to read Escalation or Initiation, so I may be missing things. Would really love to put this in some kind of context.

I interpreted it as that there is a major threat coming, and they need Chief to stop it.

We’ll find out why John disappeared in the upcoming Escalations Issues, so that’ll help. Plus, Halo 2 is getting a new prologue and epilogue added that tie into Agent Locke and Guardians.

For some reason, I hadn’t thought of that. The possibility of Locke looking for him for friendly reasons had never occurred to me.

As for what this could be, there’s still the Flood and the Didact out there, and possibly Mendicant Bias.

Also, where’d you hear that bit about Halo 2? Sounds excellent.

They need to find him because they need his help.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I think John is going coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs.

At first I thought they needed his help but the seeds of our future are sown in his past dose not sound friendly, sounds like they need him gone to grow then again it sounds like they need his so called seeds to grow.could go in both directions

I think you’re over-thinking it. I am pretty sure it just means that they need John to face some sort of threat. What I’m wondering, is if we’re going to be playing as Locke for a good portion of the campaign, which worries me.

> I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I think John is going coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs.

I lol’ed at this for a good 5 minutes.

On-Topic: Idk, it’s hard to say what Thel’s words mean. My initial reaction is that the Arbiter and Locke are looking for John to help them with some threat, seeing as how you’ve got the Ur-Didact, the Covenant Remmnant (and possibly Flood) running about in the universe still, so there’s that.

On the other hand, depending on what happens in the next few Escalation chapters, maybe Locke is hunting John down for some reason (Composer immunity perhaps?). Like I said it’s hard to say what it means.

My interpretation is that Agent Locke tracked down The Arbiter on Sanghelios in order to gather intel on John in order to find him since he probably went AWOL.

I’m still convinced that the Flood has returned, and that they need to find John to help them defeat it. Where’s he gone? I’m guessing the Ark, to find Mendicant Bias, who has plenty of experience with the Flood.

Yeah this is Exciting, Halo : Nightfall is going to have something from Halo 5 as well.

Its gotta be to get chief to help them out plus Arby is pals with him and im sure hed like to help his bud out.

However, who knows what Locke (ONI) could want with him other than being the side of human interaction

I’m with the majority on this one: I think they need John’s help. At least… his help from analyzing what he has done so that they can figure out what they must do

I really hope they are looking for him due to friendly reasons and not trying to kill him.

I want my Arbiter and Chief bro team back :frowning:

I don’t know about you, but that seems pretty cliched to me. Find the Master Chief so that he can save the day (for the fifth time.)

What the OP is speculating seems far more interesting. Instead of seeking out MC so that he can save them from something, they’re seeking out MC to stop him from doing something.

He’s done idiotic stuff in determination before, such as when he accidentally released the Didact. What if this time, his determination to find Cortana pulls him into a greater threat that will harm everyone rather than just a threat that will harm humanity?

What if the Master Chief’s determination to find Cortana allows himself to be manipulated into releasing the Flood? (Taking Cobra’s Cortana theory into account)

That’s what I think Locke is trying to do; he’s trying to stop/warn MC before it’s too late. That’s far more interesting than looking for MC to beg for his help.

Im actually not opposed to this plan…its funny, cus when you think about it, John has actually had quite a few silly moments where he starts the problem xD

Likely do to his over literal mentality. So yes, I can see ONI/Arby trying to find and Stop chief from doing anything rash.

Isn’t the ark kind of destroyed??

It was only damaged man. You gotta’ keep up.

Chief can be a bit dense… This sounds a lot better than “Hunt him down and kill him because he went full Halsey.” However, I swear I heard Frankie say something that pointed more towards the “Chief hurry, you are our only hope” storyline. My mind is slipping…

its too hard to tell at this point
