I know how the saying goes, don’t fix it if it ain’t broke, but it would be nice to see theatre be given a little love in the next iteration of Halo. Nothing’s really been added to it in the last few games so I feel it’s about time for some improvements. At the very least, bringing back theatre mode for Campaign and Firefight/SpOps/Whatever new mode…
What do you want to see happen with theatre in the next Halo?
Well they definitely need to bring back Theater support for Campaign and Spartan Ops.
They could also improve it by adding editing options for Theater clips, like cutting to different angles.
Also, an option to disable the in-game announcer. If I’m making a Machinima, I don’t want “DOUBLE-KILL” to be heard in the background.
I think it’d be cool if there was the ability to export film clips and screenshots in playable formats to a portable device. With the Xbox One’s hardware, I would think this would be doable.
Theater support for modes other than multiplayer needs to return. I never realized how much I missed it until it was gone!
A button that skips playback forward by 10 or 15 seconds. If I want to record something cool that happened towards the end of a match, I don’t want to sit through all that happened at the beginning of the match to get to the time where I want to start recording!
All that was said above with co-op.

I most definitely agree! I’ve been wanting different angles for a while now. They would add some pretty cool effects to Machinama.
I heard the X1 is going to have a kind of DVR system to it, not to sure on the specifics but wouldn’t that render theater mode obsolete ?
Not really. Because you still need theater mode to move the camera around. But having a console that had a DVR would kinda ruin the point of having a Capture card if you do Machinima.
Also it would require a large harddrive.

I put some thought into this, too. But remember: when you’re watching a film clip on your Xbox via Theater mode, your Xbox isn’t simply displaying the graphics and playing the audio associated with that film. It’s actually recreating the moments that occurred between the specified points in time during that game. Which is why you can move the camera around the map while the game continues playing to see every shot fired and every grenade thrown. The onboard DVR of the Xbox One (likely) has no way of interpreting this data and using it to construct a film clip - that’s something that the game itself needs to do.
If they still can’t implement it for Campaign/Spartan Ops, then they should give us freeroaming camera when we die (like in ODST Firefight).
To be fair, besides reimplementing it into Campaign and Spartan Ops, there’s not very much at all I can think of that Theater Mode can’t already do. Perhaps complex mapped camera paths? Maybe more control over editing videos?
Well, OK. It would be nice to be able to fast forward faster.
