If there is a match/film that you really wanted to save, but waited till it was gone from the temporary history, is it gone forever? Is there away to save it on waypoint by looking through the Game History?

Why does the temporary history sometimes flush?
For the longest time, I could go and see my last 20 games, regardless of how long they had been there. Last Sunday I had this funny thing happen (involving a grunt, a man-cannon and a cliff), but did not have time to save, I went back on Tuesday, and my temporary history was COMPLETELY gone.
The only thing I can think of is maybe when you go to Waypoint on the XBOX everything is purged? I keep meaning to go test this theory, but if it is true - Why?

I believe this is something to do with the Xbox’s memory/cache. If I were to play any other game, my temporary history is cleared. Also can happen if you don’t have your Xbox on for about 12 or so hours afterwards. And on updates.
