In halo 3 it was always fun to watch film clips with your friends (even if the loading time for the clips were absurdly long). I thought it was a nifty feature that didn’t get brought into reach.
Yes
Although not needed it was still nice to have
As long as you can still rewind in campaign.
It was removed because it was a pain to code into H3 and was still broken in H3.
nifty.
*smirk
OT: Yea I really want this feature back.
Hopefully, they can re-enable multi-user Theater and get it to perform better in Halo 3.
No one watches clips alone, but no one likes it when two of the three buddies they try to watch a clip with consistently get kicked out of the party by Theater glitches, either.
> It was removed because it was a pain to code into H3 and was still broken in H3.
Yes, it was broken, but that’s no reason not to reiterate on the idea, fix it and reimplement it.
Besides, it’s far less complex overall in concept than everyone seems to think.
Theatre just takes past game data and plugs it into the engine: It shouldn’t be more complicated than scripting controller inputs and running the game on the same map.
That said, the only possible thing that could wreck a properly made party-based viewing system is if the engine has to receive and transmit an amount of inputs higher than the maximum player count, meaning two players viewing a BTB match together would be a mess.
It would be like having 9 players in a game that runs at maximum capacity with 8.
But there are workarounds, and even trying to fix this system could be advantageous to the game as a whole even if party-based viewing doesn’t make the final cut.

Agreed.
The fact that it was apparently a time sink with no bottom to it is though.
If they bring Theatre back (and they should imo) you must be able to watch a clip with friends, it’s a must have feature!
Having to sign out your co-op partner and kick away the party just to watch a 10 second clip just ain’t worth it no matter how good it is.
