The ability to save your games in theater is gone and you can only record 30 seconds in Xbox DVR (or 5 minutes if you start beforehand, but who does that? and it’s not enough for a full halo game). This is really bad as it is. But there is ALSO something wrong with theater itself.
Watching a recently played game in theater is not as fluent as the real gameplay. I don’t recall this being a problem in earlier Halo games. I was struggling to find a way to confirm that theater gameplay isn’t fluid. But finally, I found a way; I recorded theater gameplay of me capturing a stronghold and you can clearly see on the stronghold capture bar that the theater gameplay is glitching back half a second every other second constantly.
This is frustrating to say the least when I want to go back and record some cool gameplay and I immeditately see that it looks bad. I have a cool overkill? It won’t look cool at all in theater. Got a nice triple kill flag capture? It won’t look nice in theater. Why is theater this way?

I feel your pain man. Sucks when I got a Killtastrophe with a sniper went back to record it in theatre and it would just randomly switch to another player instead of mine, making it impossible to record.
Absolutely agree… I’d much rather have a theater mode that only properly recorded your own perspective than getting the roundabouts of what happened for everyone.
The theater mode in Halo 5 is inconsistent. The footage feels choppy, I keep jumping player to player, and it keeps bugging up whenever I fast forward. It’s quite annoying when you want to rewatch a sick match you’ve won in the past.
you can record up to 10 minutes using the game dvr, and unsnapping it after you start, you can also record the last 5 minutes using that by pressing end clip now, or you can preset your xbox to record 5 minutes. Lots of easy options here.
I agree theatre is -Yoink- now, but are you sure you can’t save clips in theatre? Cuz I’ve been able to save entire games from my custom games scrimming other groups. I’ve got like a dozen games saved.

i snap my dvr and it says “you can record up to 5 minutes”. How do i record 10 min then?
Yeah. Theater is broken. It’s annoying that it keeps taking me to other players when I’m trying to record myself. By now I thought it would be fixed but it’s not

Oh ok. Yeah I thought it was always called that. Makes sense to me.
Yeah because of broken theater I missed one of the best clips that would have ever been made. It was in action sack, diminishing kings. I had active camo and snuck up on a guy who was in the container that moves up and down. Well I assisted him and it went through the animation. I was using supernova too… well after it his hand from his dead body got stuck in the top of the container and his dead body hung there so I started hitting it like a slab of beef from Rocky… it was so awesome… and I will never get to see it again. Because when I went into theater to save it it didn’t replay it as it happened
I believe the reason theater is the way it is might have to do with the servers not being able to tell where you where or what you were doing properly.
For instance noticed that when I would get shot down for too quickly with no indication of it happening that theater showed me in 2 different locations possible mixing data with some one else and I was possibly getting shot in these gaps where I was some where else. This is just a theory right now I am yet to find clear evidence. I’m simply comparing my memory of the game to what ended up happening in theater.
It also may could be related to shots missed that hit and viseversa where people are seeing of target reticles in theater.

Start recording, wait 5 seconds, unsnap, and if you resnap after 5 mins it will save. it will stop at 10 mins automatically.

It is very strange where I watch a piece of the gameplay in theater, then re wind and watch it again but different movements are taken for the same actions. One of my first theater clips I watched of my games my spartan did not have on my armor or my gamertag, but still performed the same actions as I did the entire match.

This tends to happen in matches where you joined in progress and took the place of another spartan
Theater, like most of Halo is great when it works properly, but it rarely does. I don’t know that this version of theater has ever been an accurate representation of the gameplay. Player and AI animations and ragdolls almost always seem funky.

Yeah watching any match you JIPed into is a waste of time in my experience.
