I’ve been having issues with theater for awhile now like not being able to save films for some reason? but I’m sure we can live without that feature but the thing that pisses me off is that every time I use Theater a different issue occurs like today I went into Theater Mode to record something that happened in a match I was playing and everything went fine until I alt tabbed, the game went into the background and disappeared from my taskbar and I had to restart it. well I thought to my self maybe that’s a one time occurrence. but nope, the second time I got into Theater mode I did actually record the clip I wanted and I went to the “End Game” button. and let me tell you, that didn’t exactly do what it said it’ll do. it just froze the game and stopped displaying it and I couldn’t do a single thing but restart my PC. I hope these issues will get resolved sometime soon.
Yup, needs some love and Clips and Screenshots etc have to return.
I’ve experienced that bug where it disappears from taskbar even though I can hear in my headphones it’s still running and I have to restart my PC. Very annoying.
I would pay for “343 Pro” or some variation of it. I paid for Bungie Pro. Please give me a file share system that I WANT to use. I dont know anyone who likes/uses MCCs.
Yeah tbh if they overhaul Theater, Forge and Fileshare I’d be fine with paying for a subscription for a ‘Bungie Pro’ type service.
Poor theater mode, one of the features of the collection to have intentionally been downgraded and stripped of features as time went on. When the MCC originally launched players could save films, but recording clips and taking screenshots were removed because the Xbox OS now has similar features. It’s obviously not the same recording with other tools and you can’t share them in-game. As for saving theater films it was removed some time in 2017. I don’t know why it was axed completely as players would obviously want to save some of their best moments. Maybe has to do with the 50 file cap that MCC enforces for whatever stupid reason.
Aside from bug fixes I doubt anything else is coming to theater unfortunately.
That alt+tab bug has nothing to do with theater. It has two solutions: 1) use borderless mode or windowed mode instead of fullscreen, or 2) this:

You can actually pinpoint the date people started having this issue. I have no idea why it hasn’t been fixed over a year ago.
If you want to save theater films then you have to save the file elsewhere and put it back in later to play it. Be aware that they usually break after an update. They’re “.mov” files in name only. They’re actually replay data of the inputs everyone made during the game. Make sure you don’t mix up which game they’re for. Look in the “Movie” folder here:
C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\LocalLow\MCC\Temporary\UserContent

I haven’t checked enough recently, but I’ve found that I more reliably get a theater recording of a game than I do save the gametype and map in my recently played.
