So today I wanted to record a short clip to put online. Can you not even do this in H5? Is this another feature they fell short on? I don’t want to put the whole game online. Or is this another feature we have to wait for?
iirc, the Sprint featured a version of Theater that had the traditional record/screenshot options. People concluded that it’s probably going to be added in once we have a proper File Browser.
That said, the Xbox One’s screenshot/record function is fine at the moment.

Not really… pretty lame of them not to keep theater how it was.
Don’t worry, you are not alone. I tried to record a clip of me killing a boss by making it jump off a cliff with my ground pound, but i couldn’t get the timing right with the whole “Xbox record this” thing.
I just used upload studio. A little more of a hassle but still gets it done.
I don’t have the kinetic to simply say record that. Hope they make it the way it was before.
Man… I am beginning to see why people are so upset with 343. They’ve done a pretty -Yoink!- job with the Halo franchise. No split screen, patches after initial launch, no medal view in game, no forge at launch, impossible theater recording, just on and on… There’s problems with this game. And it sucks because Halo is the only reason I still play video games.

Pretty lame of them not to keep a lot of things that were great about the previous Halo’s =\ It seems they focused entirely on gameplay, which don’t get me wrong is fantastic, but the UI, Menu, Post game screen, lobbies, etc are all really really poor.

You can double tab the home button and hit X for a clip or Y for a screenshot. (In case you didnt know)
But I agree. Its awful lame what they did to theater and file sharing.
The theater/spectator mode is also pretty broken because the reticle of the player is delayed. It looks like the player completly misses but still get a hitmarker. H5 montages are going to be awful with this.

Yeah I knew that but I play mostly rumble pit and either forget to do it or just don’t have time in the fight.
Xbox One DVR. Holy -Yoink-, it’s that simple? Yes it is.

You know what is more simple… go into theater and simply record your clip like it has been done for what…over a decade… why change it and make it more of a hassle?

While the rest of your complaints may be perfectly valid, this one in particular just seems to be the state of the video game industry now. The last game I bought that didn’t have day one patches was on the 3DS. Even the WiiU has had day one patches pushed out for a few games.
I don’t know when or where this became the norm, but I agree that it’s infuriating.
Took me a while to figure it out myself, I guess “Xbox record that” is the only option.
you can record 30 sec on xbox, just double tap the center button and hit x. Ive made many clips in theater using it

Unless you want to record gameplay longer than five minutes that is.
