As title states, I like this idea, giving people awareness that someone is zoomed in and headhunting but I generally don’t agree with it being on say the BR albeit less aggressively. Precision weapons tend to give themselves away from how much rounds you have to fire and if you’re absolutely out in the open with no cover then that is on you for being reckless. These precision weapons also have some pretty aggressive bullet trails too.
Thats just my two cents if you guys have any counter arguments I’d like to hear a reason why you think they should stay.
I agree, I don’t think scoped weapons are so much of a threat to have a glint. We have enemy outlines after all, if someone is shooting at you, usually you have time to look and see who it is or you die either way if there’s no cover.
It’s also really bright, especially on the Shock Rifle; can’t even see the Spartan, just blue.
Agreed. I’m fine with no shine at all but if the community wants it - I’d agree that only major scoped weapons (like the sniper, maybe the skewer too?) should have it.
BR and comparable should not have it.
Honestly in some cases the sniper glint makes it to where I can’t even SEE the enemy and it causes my shots to be off target. I think it would be better off just being removed entirely as I can see the outlines from a distance just fine.
I think it should just be removed entirely.
I respectfully disagree.
I believe that in these kind of games, scope glint should not be a thing, here’s why:
Back in the day, being able to master a scoped weapon took skill, precisely because the player had to be either proficient in tactical positioning, or a very good shot.
When you add scope glint to a weapon, all the positional advantage is completely lost, because not only your enemy can just shoot the glint without ever having to actually see you but also when you’re hit, you get “de-scoped” effectively eliminating the strategic advantage that using a scoped weapon (specifically a Sniper Rifle) provides to the battle.
In a real scenario, while Scope glint does exists, it is only presented under a set of very specific circumstances (Sun’s position, shooters position, humidity, etc) for which an experienced shooter will account for, and knowing that Halo is a very fictional game (with no adherence to our current reality) I believe Scope glint should not be a thing…
Doesn’t making it easier to counter snipers actually make mastering a sniper take even more skill?
I would love to be able to sit way back, nestle in behind a rock or bush and wait for the easy shot. With glint, I can’t afford patience because I will be spotted, so I need to be quick in the scope.
If course positional advantage is still important with glint, if anything it is more important.
