The Xbox One should be fixed by 2014...

…I’ll be surprised if it isn’t. Microsoft is taking a lot of fire over the used game restrictions, always-online, and now the ridiculous $500 dollar price tag.

I want to play Halo 5 as soon as it comes out; no doubt 343i will have some awesome stuff to show between now and the games release. They already admitted they screwed up with Halo 4, and they’ve gotten a lot of feedback from the community to work with; I’ve got high hopes for Halo 5.

But the Xbox One… I’m not gonna be able to get that console unless they drop the price by at least $100 bucks.

Considering all the negative feedback MS has gotten in the past month over the Xbox One, I expect them to announce some major changes by E3 2014; including a price drop, and the removal of the always-online requirement and used game restrictions.

That’ll make it equal to the PS3, no? With luck, those changes will come in time for the release of Halo 5. Keep your fingers crossed.

. . .

As for Halo 5 itself… what I’m hoping for more than anything is for vehicles to make a comeback; a lot of people have been asking for a return to the vehicle health system of Halo 3, myself included. A new game should give 343i the opportunity to remove the Plasma Pistol and Plasma Grenades from custom loadouts as well, assuming they can’t fix these issues via Title Update in Halo 4.

Then there’s Firefight; while I enjoy Spartan Ops, I’m hoping they’ll build upon Halo:Reach’s Firefight mode, add new customization options (WITHOUT removing any of the old ones, PLEASE) and allow for big, epic vehicle battles; I really want to see heavier vehicles in Firefight like the Scorpion, Mantis, Falcon, drivable Banshees, destructible Phantoms… and Scarabs and Liches, if it can be done.

P.S. Can’t you guys at 343i and MS just call it “Halo 5” instead of this “Halo Xbox One” nonsense?

> …I’ll be surprised if it isn’t. Microsoft is taking a lot of fire over the used game restrictions, always-online, and now the ridiculous $500 dollar price tag.

What?

You’re fanagaling over $100 dollars?

Considering for that price we are getting Kinect and friggen HUGE hard drive on top of that AND accounting for inflation, this is a sweet deal.

> But the Xbox One… I’m not gonna be able to get that console unless they drop the price by at least $100 bucks.

So save $10 a week and you’ve made the difference well before the console is avaliable.

> a return to the vehicle health system of Halo 3,

No.

> Then there’s Firefight; while I enjoy Spartan Ops, I’m hoping they’ll build upon Halo:Reach’s Firefight mode,

Why would they?

Reach showed that for all the time and effort involved, people just were not interested in it, likely due to the inherit flaws that can not be fixed (Input Lag) and were present even in Spartan Ops.

As long as Xbox One has the 24 hour DRM there is no Halo 5 for me.

> …

Three things.

One, if you cannot see how much better Halo 3’s vehicle health system was than Halo 4’s, or how underpowered vehicles are in Halo 4 (even with recent update) then you must be blind.

Two, the price tag stinks considering the PS4 has a lot of the same stuff without any of the ridiculous restrictions or the always-online “feature”.

Three, Firefight in Reach was awesome; I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about. Firefight Arcade was very popular in Reach, and with the wealth of customization options, it was very addictive; and IMHO, much more fun to play in single-player anyway.

> One, if you cannot see how much better Halo 3’s vehicle health system was than Halo 4’s, or how underpowered vehicles are in Halo 4 (even with recent update) then you must be blind.

No.

It’s called ‘I have a different opinion.’

H3’s vehicle health system not only didn’t make sense (Banshee with no wings and is on fire has nearly full health) but it doesn’t make sense from a balance standpoint.

> Three, Firefight in Reach was awesome; I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about.

Fire shot. Wait three seconds. Missed target completely.

Not to mention there was no challenge. Firefight Limited was a frustrating experience because bad kids played it and drained all of your lives. My very first and last game of Limited had a guy who squeezed outside the map and AFK’d for the full duration of the match after we all died.

> Firefight Arcade was very popular in Reach,

Very popular was Team Slayer. FF Arcade didn’t have Team Slayer levels of population. It had Multi-Team levels of population.

> . . .

One, Halo 3’s vehicle health system was more practical. Vehicles were actually worth driving, especially the Warthog. Who cares if it didn’t make sense; as far as gameplay went, it worked; and it worked far better than Halo 4’s system, where tanks and mechs can be destroyed by DMRs and other small arms.

Second, you do realize it was possible to play Firefight solo, in custom games? Where you could tweak the game and make as easy or as challenging as you wanted? Often, it was more fun than Firefight matchmaking…

Sony is on fire (in a good way) today because of Microsoft’s stupid decisions. As long as their anti-consumerist DRM is in place, Xbox One sales and Xbox fans (mainly the hardcore exclusive fans) will suffer for it.
Sony took all the negative news about the Xbox One and turned it into ammunition against Microsoft and hit every shot they took at them yesterday. Not only is the PS4 $100 cheaper (which does matter, especially in a market where video games are already very expensive), but has almost the same hardware, better in some aspects, significantly smaller, a larger library of games already in development, and although online multiplayer will require PS+, the service is overall more rewarding than what XBL Gold gives vs. what should be free without Gold.
Sony is already winning the war and the consoles haven’t even released yet. If Microsoft is going to make any changes, they need to do it before the Xbox One releases. They need to get rid of the online check every 24 hours/1 hours, allow lending games to friends freely, renting games, and permitting used games entirely, and also enable to use the Xbox One without needing the Kinect to be connected.
All the Xbox One b.s. that PS4 is banking on needs to be fixed before the Xbox One releases to get me to rethink purchasing an Xbox One in the foreseeable future, otherwise I’m getting the PS4 first.

The nonsense of a flaming banshee being near equal to a fresh one is a small complaint. The biggest one is that Jesus Vehicles could and were abused and made life hell for infantry.

In essence vehicles are Power Weapons. Power Weapons with no effective use caps since vehicles have infinite ammo. A Rocket Launcher that had infinite ammo or that regenerated rounds whenever you regenerated your shields would be overpowered. Same concept here. H3 vehicles could effectively be used for the entire game.

Non-regenerating health puts a finite cap on the effective use of the vehicle and allows infantry to chip away at a team’s vehicle and level the playing field without the necessity for anti-vehicle weapons.

> Second, you do realize it was possible to play Firefight solo, in custom games? Where you could tweak the game and make as easy or as challenging as you wanted? Often, it was more fun than Firefight matchmaking…

And?

I didn’t find any fun from blasting the AI to bits.

I agree with everything you said, especially about vehicle health. Bravo!

The Xbox One is still cheaper than the PS3 which was 600$ when it shipped unless you bought the stripped down version for 500$. And by the time Halo 5 is out the price will drop.

I disagree entirely. For starters, a vehicle with more damage had it’s “health” drained much faster than a vehicle with high damage. The only difference was that it’s “health” would still regenerate to maximum if left unshot long enough for the player driving to have his shields come back. But regardless, a flaming Banshee was still weaker than a fresh one.

AND some spawn weapons were more effective against vehicles than others. Fictonally the AR uses “Shredder Rounds” which effectively pulverize metal. In-game the AR was much more effective against a Banshee than the BR. But you had to KNOW this to actually apply it, and most players either didn’t know, or were to stupid to realize pressing Y would make a difference.

As well, what’s the point of even having vehicles, and anti-vehicle weapons if EVERYTHING kills them anyway? By that logic, the Laser and Rockets shouldn’t even be in the game because a Sniper will do just as well. (And to be honest, it does).

That’s your own opinion. And does not represent the opinion of the masses.

I agree that firefight arcade sucked. But ODST Firefight, Score Attack, and Firefight Limited were fun and challenging. And if you didn’t like it you were NEVER forced to play it.

> As long as Xbox One has the 24 hour DRM there is no Halo 5 for me.

Why not? You obviously have internet, and Xbox Live, or else you wouldn’t be here talking about Halo 5 to begin with…

How some people go off about something that will probably never effect them unless there’s a blackout (during which they won’t have power anyway) or the apocalypse.

It should also be noted that the game imprinting feature they are using is to prevent PIRACY and GAME THEFT.

Noone is going to be able to steal your games ever again, because they will never be able to play them if they do. And you can’t pirate a game that won’t let you turn it on if the imprint is already assigned to someone else. In the end it’s actually for the best that they are doing it.

As well, it aught to be noted that the Used Game Fee is charged to the retailer, not the consumer. And it kind of makes sense because that means that money goes to the developers, which lets them have larger budgets and make better games. Extra money going to gamestop does what for the consumer exactly? Pretty much nothing.

In the end it’s better for Gamestop than Microsoft just abandoning discs altogether and giving retailers nothing to sell to begin with.

Yes, we should all just complain about things we don’t even have yet. Because that’s what people always do and annoy me like no other.

A ‘HUGE’ HD?? Really?? Given that the content will be greater in size and that MS have already stated that the One will require more storage for each app/game, then i’m sorry but 500GB is far from huge!!!

Also, an extra $100 on top of $400 is quite a chunk of cash, and i really don’t see where it’s justified from MS, and along the same line, it’s going to be $500 in the US, but it’s going to come in at £429 in the UK which is quite obscene for a console imo!!!

MS really need to do something with this package before launch for me to justify buying it!!

They also need to drop the standard game price since £55 it’s a lot for a game, it’s that sort of price I expect for a collectors edition, not a game. Microsoft need to remember that not everyone is made of money, I’d be lucky if I could afford the console at lauch with games but that seem highly unlikely which is why I’m thinking of waiting till price drop.

The games they showcased at their conference were awesome, and in my opinion, better than what Sony had to offer. What lets the Xbox One down is the stupid Always-On and no support for used games, I reckon those could be easily fixed, and they will be fixed because Microsoft doesn’t have much of a choice after Sony took a dump on them.

I may consider buying the X1 and renting Halo 5 if they abolish those downright oppressive rules and restrictions.

I travel quite a bit, and often take my Xbox with me.

Not all of my destinations have free or accessible internet. I am able to maintain my connection to the internet because I have a “smart phone”, but I am certainly not going to try and connect my Xbox to the internet through it.

Why should I not be able to play single-player games that I paid for, on a compatible device, that I also paid for?

Do I own the hardware or not? Do I own the game or not?

I dont really care because i have internet connection an ones a 24 hour isnt that much… I will be buying it though

because they can and should, they should use idea’s from Halo 3, ODST, and Reachs Firefight and build upon that, using vehicles, all covenant classes (especially the Brutes), maybe have a few maps where they are entrenched (buildings and such with lots of concealing cover) and waiting in ambush and have to be flushed out of and killed, not just where a drop ship drops them off in wave after wave (though there should be a few maps with this, maybe Legendary setting and more heavies)

Did people suddenly forget that the PS4 cost 600 at launch?

500 is still a better deal than that.
