I think plasma pistol is the weakest weapon in the game. it doesn’t stop vehicles anymore and it barley follows enemies dorection and it’s so hard to land the shot and it’s somehow useless but it was really good before.
It doesn’t even take off the full Overshield anymore either. I would love to see someone argue a different weapon is worse ha, it’s absolutely rubbish. There is not a single situation I can think of where I would take it over any other gun.
Maybe 343 did it intentionally and there will be an armour coating challenge for 100 PP kills.

Agreed. And why the **** is there like 4 spawns of it on the big team map…?? Replace that with more BR’s / Commando’s or something that isn’t useless
Definitely, plasma pistol currently has nothing to make you want to use it. It has no shield stripping power, no overcharge EMP, the tracking is a bit dodgy at range, and you also have to lead your shots. I tried really hard one match to attempt a kill with the standard fire mode and it was basically impossible. Definitely needs work. It’s tied with the pulse carbine as weapons I never pick up.

This is such a massive exaggeration. I’m beginning to think a lot of people here haven’t actually used it much at all, because there are far worse weapons than the plasma pistol. It may not be in a great place right now, but I’ve still wrecked quite a few people using it. If you use it at range in BTB and then switch to a precision weapon you can catch a lot of people by surprise.
The Pulse Carbine on the other hand, now that is absolutely horrible. Curious though that hardly anyone seems to say anything about it. Perhaps it’s because there are certain expectations that come with the plasma pistol that people are being especially harsh with it

What other weapons are worse? The weapon relies on the enemy to be completely oblivious to you as if you’re too close they’ll be able to beat you with any CQB weapon and slightly further away you can simply sidestep it. The tracking on it is awful. It might be useful for a niche purpose but it’s utility is so poor, any other weapon is better as will be as effective or better in almost any scenario shy of an enemy player not looking at you and also standing still.
The pulse rifle is also a bad weapon but it at least has good spam damage. I still wouldn’t pick it up for most circumstances as it’s far too situational for it to be chosen over other weapons, but in asset control games it can have its uses.

Theory.
Plasma Pistols are located on maps as a “placeholder” for the other weapons that were not available during Matchmaking.
For example, there was a version of Bazzar that had Manglers placed where Plasma Pistol were before.
On Fragmentation (flight version) we know that the top floor of each base has a Shock Rifle + Plasma Pistol. If we go back to the E3 Multiplayer Trailer, we can see that there is a Disrupter instead of a Plasma Pistol.
The plasma pistol’s sole purpose is to do the noob combo, paired with a precision weapon, the PP slaps. I think the heatwave and shotgun are pretty worthless ngl.

Yeah plasma pistol isn’t as useful as before, though I think the top spot for useless weapon is the Heatwave. It’s a cool weapon, but doesn’t feel like it does anything. Firing in vertical mode is harder to kill with than hitting a skewer shot, and the horizontal mode feels useless unless you’re in shotgun range, which at that point they could easily melee you

It really isn’t that bad and is probably on par with the Halo 3 PP as far as tracking, which required you to be more predictive. My main two problems is that someone pointed out it doesn’t drop OS to no shields and it doesn’t seem to be effective at tracking on players in vehicles. I am neutral on whether it should do emp or not.
Sometimes it feels inconsistent. It really shouldn’t be hard to code it for if the shot is in a certain hitbox window at certain range from target, it should be 100% tracked. So you can just make adjustment on those two variables, then.

This. It is expected to EMP vehicle and completely remove an Overshield. I had to find out the hard way about the overshield.
Plasma pistol is definitely the worst. The lack of EMP is very disappointing.
The weapons I stopped picking up were PP, pulse carbine, and the two shotguns. I was surprised to find that neither shotgun could kill at point blank.
At least the Plasma Pistol can actually hit a target with it’s semi-auto fire. That doesn’t account for much when it’s TTK is a joke. But you have a better chance at winning the lottery than you do landing a shot from a Pulse Carbine against a remotely aware player in this game.

Its very situational. I’ve torn through a stack of enemies that tried to siege a control point together. Its good for holding choke points.
The weapon is kinda a pseudo-shotgun with very specific uses which enhances the sandbox even though it is not ubiquitously useful.
The pulse rifle is literally worse than the AR and the pistol at any range. Very easy to dodge, the lock on is not useful, and the projectiles are too slow.
PP by far but the pulse carbine is also in a wierd spot. I said it elsewhere already:
The weapon has this sweeet spot range where it’s actually possible to get kills but you still have to lead your shots a lot.
But if the enemy is beyond that range, the homing doesn’t work and the projecitles are too slow, the enemy can just sidestep them.
Too close, and the bursts are too slow and the homing also doesn’t make a difference.
Now comparing that to how straight forward it is to kill with most other weapons, it makse the Pulse Carbine really awkward to use, you have to put in a lot of effort just to make it barely work.
