The WORST part of Infinite is the RADAR range. By far

If someone can walk up to you, without you hearing them, then you’re in dire need of a gameplay upgrade. The radar should be banished from multiplayer anyway. Keep in campaign, but otherwise we should be communicating or tagging.

Yep. Incredibly frustrating. I agree with the OP that I think this is one of the biggest issues.

Yah for sure, and the developer had plenty of feedback regarding this in the flights. They changed it but not enough and not to the extent that most of us like. They know if they change that then they’d have to do actual work and fix many others things as well. They can’t have that… having us think they’re going to actually listen to us.

Except the audio when people are behind you is basically non existent. They can just AR you before you can even turn around and then kill you, all thanks to radar not showing them mindlessly walking up to you.

This looks like a thread for people who lack situational awareness.

I don’t pay attention enough to the radar, to pay half a mind IF it gets tweaked or not. Ping is far more effective than the radar in this game, and a lot of players don’t use ping. Watching out for missing Grenade at their spawn, Missing weapon from weapon racks, and when Power items/weapons dissappear from HUD, will give way more information about where the enemy is at. Not the radar.

You get that when you don’t keep tabs on your flanks. A relatively normal skill requirement people have to learn for most shooters now-a-days. But one that people don’t have because they’re so used to relying on the motion tracker to do that work for them.

It very much is…

You could have the radar work completely how it does now. just a range of 25m like it always has been for Matchmaking. Walking = not on radar, so you can still stealth under the radar

I know. It’s just that this makes it more viable. I’d still much prefer to have the armor ability active camo like had in Halo 4, but realistically that will not happen.

Halo 3-esk equipment is 10000000% better than Armor ability/loadout style

I hope they increase the radar’s range.

It’s almost like everyone hates it and nothing is being done about it.

@imtehz1337 “Walking = Not on Radar” Than the entire Radar would be useless. Majority of players walk instead if run now, because of the Sprint delay in this game.

What makes no sense is that they reduced the range so sharply.

Halo 5 enhanced Spartan speeds on foot with how we could now infinite sprint, thrusters, and slide. And so they buffed the radar in PvP to be 30 meters.

Halo Infinite has the fastest Spartan speeds with the Grapple-Shot in the game. And they decided that instead of keeping 30 meters or going to 35 meters, they reduced it to 18 meters.

ON TOP OF THAT, you can now no longer tell if the enemy is above or below you, just that they are not on the same level as you, resulting in more confusing callouts.
“They are near me.”
“Above or below?”
“I dunno, just near me.”

Everything concerning gameplay in Infinite feels intentional. I would like to know of 343’s findings when tweaking the MT range before suggesting it needs to be changed. Guaranteed they started with 25m and decreased it, eventually landing where it felt best at 18m.

I haven’t personally had any issues with the current MT range.

Their findings were that Pro-Leagues wanted to have shorter range for more tactical and risky engagements.
And game devs these days bow to the demands of the Pro Leagues when it comes to updates.
Hence Rainbow Six Siege’s gameplay being slowly ruined since Operation_Ember Rise and why the Mangler is being asked to be nerfed by only 1% of the players and 343 is actually considering it.

Honestly I don’t know about that. Feedback from the Pro Team directly impacted decisions made regarding Ranked settings. As for the rest of the game I’m sure the opinions of all individuals were considered, but the final settings were based on carefully selected design goals.

This is the very reason we do not have a DMR nor Carbine, why we have a 3sk Shotgun, 18m motion tracker etc.

Yet.
Halo Infinite is supposed to be a 10 year long game of constant updates.
They will be adding more weapons and vehicles over time, with the Covenant Carbine being in the leaks as one of the first guns to be added to the game.

It will be interesting to see where this game goes, and how the future additions will be implemented.

Which is why its so alien in Halo since Halo has always had a consistent radar (Aside from Halo 5). A bad radar doesn’t belong in this game
