The whole COMMUNITY is FORGETTING the point of True-Skill

And because of that you are stuck in a flame war.

Now let me remind you all for the reason why True-skill important in ranked game types.

Lets say you are a level 30. You would like to play with players around the same lvl as you right? So the true-skill system will match you up with people lvl 30’s, 31’s, 29’s. Makes people think twice before quitting or betraying. Because this superficial number means a lot to a lot of people. This results in a fair and fun gaming for all.

Now without true skill. (aka Reach)

You are a level 30. Wait, no you are not. The game can’t tell how good the players are. So it randomly slaps together two teams with each player not being near the same skill lvl. This results in chaos, unfair teams, team killers, and quitters.

Now waypoint has this BPR thingamybober. Even if this gets implemented in the game I’d be happy. And I think it will, or else why would 343 bother to make it?

It’s spelled “TruSkill”. Just a head’s up.

Also, I think most of us realize the importance of TruSkill. I certainly don’t need a reminder.

the problem is, truskill is based off of individual performance and team-based activities i.e. team slayer do not work like that in higher levels.

you can go -8 and be the reason that your team won. truskill does not account for that. it values the individual over the team and therefore discounts teamwork in favor of stat--Yoink!-.

You mean a visible TrueSkill that is kept without resetting. Reach uses TrueSkill, but because it is hidden and not show it is looser and allows for larger ranges in skill to be matched

I’m sorry if I offended you, but I, for one, believe grammatical errors take away from the author’s credibility. For instance, (not that you’re right or wrong), however why should we, as an audience, listen to you, when you can’t spell your subject correctly?

> It’s spelled “TruSkill”. Just a head’s up.

That spelling is stupid. I mean the spelling of it is not important. Hell we live in a world were we type LOL, ROFL, OMG, etc. I even used lvl in the OP. That is clearly a typo. The internet like to flip & flop on the ideas of spelling. And it is not even the point of this thread.

But I do thank you for the heads up. The above is more-or-less to anyone else who wants to bring out minor spelling errors.

Now lets talk “TruSkill.”

it’s ‘spell’…just sayin’ =P mwahahahaha!!!

just jokin’ around buddy, you’re cool (:

Yes, because the game can’t recognise what someones TrueSkill is unless the number is next to your name visually. Matchmaking needs to actually see the number on screen…

> just jokin’ around buddy, you’re cool (:

Yea, I just caught that and edited it. It’s five o’clock in the morning and I have yet to go to bed! :stuck_out_tongue:

same here! well…it’s 2, but same point. =P

too many annoying threads with redundant themes…the problem is i feel as though i must post or it will eat away at my sanity.

I’ve been saying for ages that we shouldn’t base rank around TruSkill. The point of it is, as you say, fair matchmaking. When you attach rank to it, all you do is encourage people to exploit the system, e.g. De-ranking. Maybe BPR could be attached to Rank, but TruSkill should remain purely as a tool for fair Matchmaking, IMO.

The Halo community is in a very odd place. We’re essentially at a new beginning, however we know its past, and we’re all worried. What’s it going to be like? What will the future hold? Does it have this feature, and that feature? Everyone’s anxiously excited and scared as hell. We all want this to be the perfect game, that’s why we see so many obnoxious, annoying, and highly redundant threads all the time.

The Halo 4 forum is a dangerous place. Thousands of people comment in this forum daily, each with their own, slightly different, view. Everyone essentially thinks they’re right and everyone else is wrong, that’s the consequence of human nature on the Internet. I just hop on, discuss, help out when I can, debate a little, nothing out of the ordinary.

However, at the end of the day, one has to realize that, despite everyone essentially arguing with each other, I’ve never seen such a community so passionate about a game.

If you and I met face to face, and I held out my empty hand in front of you and told you there is an apple in it. Would you believe me? No you’d see that there is no apple in said hand.

Now bungie told us that the true skill is hidden in Reach, but it is still there. Well i can see for one that it is not. I have played FFA and BTB for almost two years now. And the game still matches me up with recruits with 0% commendations. Im not a pro player, but that should not be happening. I can see that there is no true skill in reach.

First of all, it is not my subject, second, I do not have issues with grammar, and thirdly:

It is ridiculous that so many people pick little mistakes like that, it seems most people would rather pick out grammatical errors rather than the topic at hand, did you understand what he meant? Yes, does it matter he added an “E” No, the word is usually spelt “True” so one would assume “True-Skill” was correct.

If the posts preceding this hold the truth, then it seems like you are the only one continuing this topic of conversation. Shall we get back on-topic now?

I think rank and true skill should be separate things, too.

I.e. people should rank up like in Halo Reach. But there should be a true skill system that matches everyone fairly.

Lets make it like Hanna Montana. Best of both worlds.

I understand, I’ve been stuck on a 25 or 26 for some type because of that. But if you are going -8 in team slayer you are not ready for the next level. yeah you the reason why your team one, but the fact that you went negative means that you help the other team more than your own.

Also, your team’s collective skill=/=your own personal skill.

/personal opinion on this matter.

We just need a system that works. It didn’t work at all in reach. Just look at the score after your games very rarely are games close in reach. If there really is truskill in the background its not working right.

I’m not the best player not even close so it would be nice to be matched with people on my same level. I dislike playing people that can destroy me and I hate playing with people that are much worse then me. It can get boring playing people that just suck and can’t kill you.

I would not mind if they brought back 1-50 people like seeing the number. Its not a bad system and I never got to 50 and still think that. But really I just want a system that works. Hopefully one were you don’t need to play an insane amount of matchs for it to rank you.
