It is at least 4 years after Halo 3 because the Origins episodes from Halo Legends shows that they are still floating in space 4 years later.

Has anyone from 343i confirmed that Halo 4 uses a modified Halo: Reach engine? All I’ve heard from 343 is that they are using “existing Halo tech”.
