The weekend the community lost its cool

It happened, and mythic month was the catalyst. Whether or not it was a blown of proportion over reaction is a debate for another thread. I don’t feel the least bit slighted by these mythic packs that 343 has released. But that’s irrelevant. What’s important is the huge number of players who do feel slighted, ripped off, whatever other kind of emotional ailment they found inflicted on them with the news of mythic month. It wasn’t pretty, the community lost its mind.

There are a lot of gamers very angry at you 343. How are you going to save face?

More to the point, what are you going to do with the money you make from these packs?

If the community sees this going somewhere productive, maybe the backlash will drop down a little bit. Perhaps they would be a little more accepting of a cash payment shortcut to unlocking a mythic weapon that took them months of playtime to achieve if they see massive improvement in other areas of the game. Areas they’ve been wanting to see improve for a long time now.

Perhaps first and foremost we should get these halo 5 dedicated servers a little more dedicated to doing their job. Fix them so that they run the same they did at launch. You will have some very enthused gamers on your hands. We have guys lag out of custom games! Drop during the build, get banned for losing connection to the servers, teleporting, busted shot registration, it’s incredibly frustrating, and it should have been fixed by now.

Perhaps you could throw a little bit of money at the MCC? Maybe fix a couple of the glitches that are still present. Maybe remaster a few more maps for the halo 2 anniversary playlist? That game never got a fair shake because of the broken launch. Throw some money at it and entice people to play it again. It is the “hub of halo” after all.

Maybe add a classic playlist to halo 5? This could be very easily done if you coordinate with the gentlemen who created the “evolved” playlist. They’ve got a very good selection with over a dozen maps with a variety of gametypes on each map. Their playlist could be ready for mm with very little extra tweaking. I just played this for the first time with my friends tonight. We had a blast, it adds an exciting change of pace to halo 5 gameplay and doesn’t feel dated. A little tweaking and coordination with the playlist creators and you’ve got yourself a very solid classic playlist that the community has been asking for a long time now. It feels like halo 5, and it feels like halo CE iMO. They did a very good job with this, I think it could be a hit.

Maybe fix the theater glitches?

There are many things that can be done to save face. I think the community needs to see a major benefit to the game from these mythic packs. No one wants microtransactions in halo. But when we see something productive come out at the other end it certainly softens the blow. Maybe that something productive could be one of the many requests the community has had for a very long time. Just my 2 cents.

My personal opinion, but I think 343 choose the wrong the wrong target for Halo 5.
The game is hugely focused on Warzone (the entire REQ system, the patches that focus on releasing new contents for Warzone, the addition of firefight) , but I think they forgot what people love about Halo: the competitive modes, and fun matches.

I think since the launch Arena has been neglected by 343: very few competitive modalities, very few fun game modes (like Infection), a poor pool of maps compared to other titles of the franchise, and overall little to no interest by the producers.
At first, I said to myself:“Ok, first months, they’re trying to make things better for the game overall, let’s wait”.
Almost a year has passed, and I think they didn’t show the attention to (what should have been) the core of the game, the column of the entire experience.
