So sick of people saying the BR is unbalanced. It has its niche in Halo 5 just like every other weapon. In fact I would go as far as saying this is the most balanced I can recall halos weapons being so early in a Halo games life.
This is how the weapons breakdown if used by people with any small amount of skill
SMG and AR undoubtedly beat these weapons at close range: DMR, BR, Light Rifle
BR undoubtedly beats these weapons at mid range: SMG and AR
DMR and Light Rifle undoubtedly beats these weapons at long range: SMG, AR, BR
At this point anyone who complains about unbalancedness in Halo 5 has absolutely no clue what they are talking about.
you my friend are correct in all ways, ignore the haters

This is true.
I only have a problem with Ease of Use of the BR and insanely quick killtimes in general .
Never did “these weapons are op” ever cross my mind while playing this beta.
I can use any gun in Halo 5 and confidently face my opponent and still win. Maybe cept the light rifle i have tried using it much.

Both this and the OP are right

Dude, Light Rifle is the bees knees. It is a Support Players dream weapon. It knocks down sheilds fully in just two quick shots so your teammates can come in and play swat with the one shot enemies.
The BR may be easy to use but so is every other weapon. So if you make the BR harder to use then the other weapons will start to kncok the BR out of its own niche. On some of these smaller maps you really have to be careful getting too close to the red dots on your radar because if you have a BR and they have an AR or SMG and you turn a corner then you are toast every time unless facing scrubs. Same goes for long sight lines if you try to face the Light rifle long distance you are dead plain and simple. Make the BR harder to use and it could become a big problem
I agree that everything is balanced, although I don’t think the DMR fits in the beta because it really can only fulfill it’s purpose on Pegasus and Truth (Granted we don’t have bigger maps yet). But the one thing that erks me about the BR which is technically all weapons is the bullet magnetism, and the level of skill it removes from the game. Strafing has been rendered useless unless you want to be moving pretty far, but in general just the idea of bullet magnetism is strange. I also think that the BR should shoot in a proper burst as someone else had stated on a post, because the 3 bullets all fire at the same time basically, and I think that will also help decrease the TTK which is more of at problem than balance, the BR has always had its signature pace making it a precision weapon, not a spam semi-automatic weapon.

Not really because every gun is scaled to the effectiveness of the rifles(precision guns) in any halo game. So in other words in down for a nerf of all guns

I don’t think people are saying the BR is unbalanced. They are saying BR starts discourages movement on the map and actually using all of the weapons in the game.
If everyone has a BR there is no reason to use AR/SMG/Pistol. You don’t need to traverse the map to even pick up the BR, so the game tends to get a little campy.

agreed
every weapon fits it’s role perfectly

Basically every thread against BR starts states that the BR is too powerful. You just basically stated that yourself by saying it is useless to pick up other weapons which is extremely false. If you feel that you don’t need to pick up other weapons such as the light rifle for long range or the SMG for close range just because you have a BR then i question your tactics. I ALWAYS will pick up an LR or SMG even when I have a BR. In previous game sI wouldn’t ever pick up an SMG because the BR could beat those weapons in any sitation but in halo 5 due to the other weapons having purpose it is dumb not to.
I completly understand what REMOVE BR START scrubs are “Trying” to say. 99% of them are trying to say “I am not good with X weapon so in stead of practicing I just want you to take it away”
The Light Rifle is pretty much a straight upgrade to the BR, for better or worse.
Otherwise I agree completely.
> I don’t think people are saying the BR is unbalanced. They are saying BR starts discourages movement on the map and actually using all of the weapons in the game.
Which is a ton of bunk.
People do pick up automatics in this game, but even if they didn’t crappy automatics don’t make up the entire sandbox.
You’re telling me someone isn’t going to pick up a Brute Shot, Mauler, Plasma Pistol, etc in Halo 3?
Don’t even get me started on map movement…
I agree for the most part and enjoy the new found balance, for all the rage and happy moments it has brought. It’s not as bad at a high skill range since AR isn’t used as much but being head shot halfway across the map(Think security to red in Eden/empire), and killed, with the AR is just ridiculous. The nerf I want would still keep it very effective up to it’s supposed intended range (Medium) but get rid of those infuriating spray n’ pray victories that are mostly luck based (Luck based in the sense that you can’t expect all the bullets to hit). In it’s intended medium range the AR should be dominant to precision weapons (but beat out by the smg at close range) but in its current state only ranges starting somewhere closer to long range than medium does the BR assure a victory and even then it’s only when you hit every shot with the last being in the head. This still leaves you with no shields most of the time, or dead if you missed even the head shot. At the same time the AR can miss quite a bit and usually come out on top at this range (Read: Still closer to long range than medium). Group situations show the problem very well. It takes 2 decent people to hit 2 shots each in the head one after another for a kill, with only a slight amount of time to avoid death between the shots. 2 people who can aim and pull a trigger with an AR, never mind zooming, will at the very least drop a persons shield before they can respond with a thrust away or some other maneuver. So one of the reasons extremely fast kill times are perceived in this game, even at a low level, is because anyone can have their shields dropped across the map. There is no skill involved, compared to how Halo has always worked. Of course it’s avoidable and not difficult to counter even against multiple opponents if you know what you’re doing but eventually everyone will lose a battle that they should have won simply because of luck. Not the well placed grenade, a well executed juke or managing to land the last bullet into your opponents head before they type of luck. The luck that allows someone standing at the entry of blue one on truth with an AR reticle that completely surrounds your spartan due to how far you are (top mid) to put enough bullets into you to drop your shield before you know it and kill you as you jump towards red two. That’s not Halo and the AR needs a slight nerf.
I’ve learnt a trick, I start off with the BR but if the other team are using AR’s I then pick one up or switch over to the AR fight Fire With Fire!
The fact that people can’t make up their minds about which weapons are OP shows good game balance. In previous Halos there was always a very clear OP and UP gun.
