The Weapon Spawn Balance on BTB Maps is Really Bad

I know other people have noticed this pattern as well but it’s extremely tilting to be so imbalanced.

A group of friends and I got on yesterday evening and we had at least 5 at any one time so we had to go into BTB, which is fine, we traditionally have every halo anyway. But that’s when I noticed something was amiss.

Depending on map and gametype (the fact weapon spawns aren’t consistent between matches is tilting on its own) The game will give your teams different sets of weapons on your respective sides.

It seems like almost exclusively the side we got saddled with had commandos and the enemy team had BR’s. Now this wouldn’t be so bad except for the recent commando nerf making it far less viable, and in AR starts trying to fight BR’s is awful (not having BR STARTS is also tilting).

Ok, so at least both sides get other weapons that can help fight right? Well yes and no. The side with the commandos seem to always have needlers and ravagers, while the other side has hydras and sentinel beams. These are nowhere near interchangeable weapons when it comes to value. It’s like climbing Everest to kill an enemy Wasp on one side of the map, and the wasp is basically paper machè on the other.

Ok that’s still not unplayable right? You can just be better than them and push and take their weapons for yourself. Then you see a pelican bring a tank and sit it next to their base and sit a chopper next to your own.

Now I’m open minded. I like variety and the thrill of finding a way out of a bad situation…but this is a little out there for any sane person

I have solutions:

  1. BR/Sidekick starts to stop spawn imbalance
  2. A reduction of spawn grenades by 1 to prevent spamming them
  3. Even weapon spawns on each side…if one side has a shock rifle, the other side should have a shock rifle, not a sniper, those are two very different weapons
  4. The pelicans dropping things is fine, but it once again should be even and not random. Not necessarily predictable but there’s never a reason to give one side a free tank and the other a vehicle that is basically useless.
  5. Vehicles are powerful, and most weapons do practically no damage to them. A very minor increase in base weapon damage to vehicle armor would make them seem less like tanks and more like vehicles from past games you can play against. I’m not saying make them weak, but as it stands the BR/Commando/AR/Sidekick, and many other weapons you can pick up do no damage at all really. Turrets barely even harm them, but Turrets are insanely good against infantry. All these weapons aren’t just weak and inefficient against vehicles armor, it’s an actual full on waste of time using them against them unless you can hit the driver directly. It encourages you to just run away and hope someone else can deal with the problem.
  6. That last part was a definite rant, sorry. This one is simple - emp style weapons are really annoying for people that drive vehicles a lot. They should be more limited on maps Or spawn at a neutral location. Maybe a single disruptor pistol at each base and a shock rifle you have to control further in etc. I abuse the heck out of the shock rifle and it can’t be fun for the drivers. That’s another balance issue, it shouldn’t be impossible for vehicles to do their part either.
  7. The Chopper should not be the weakest vehicle in the game, that’s silly

I miss the old halos where you could take out a tank with the sniper rifle, all solid points btw.

You still can, it just takes more shots than it has in some games. Also if you blow off the treads it stops the tank from driving which is sometimes more useful

What about mounting them to plant a grenade?

I can’t believe that’s no longer a viable option because you have to do it 3 times to get a kill for some reason.

It’s also glitches and doesn’t work half the time. It just sits on the tank pointlessly without letting you use the grenade. It’s just gotten me killed trying a few times so I stop trying.
