From the Halo 5 Firefight, at the 0:47 mark you can see a Brute plasma rifle laying on the ground around a dead crawler.
In my honest opinion i am excited to use this weapon in action because, I was a fan for the plasma rifles, especially the brute edition due to it’s high damage.

Did you ever go on any killing sprees in Halo 2 with the Plasma Rifle? I know I didn’t. Hell, I’m not sure I ever killed anyone with it in Halo 2.
I imagine there will be 3 plasma rifle variants (just speculating):
Plasma rifle (type-25 DER)- blue; fires slightly slower than the storm rifle, but boasts higher power and accuracy. Slows enemy movement speed when target is hit, and accuracy decrease over time fired.
Brute Plasma rifle or, perhaps Sword Plasma rifle (Type-25 DER/J) - red; fires faster than the blue variant and has more range, but overheats faster. Slows enemy movement speed when target is hit, and accuracy decrease over time fired.
Reth’s Scourage - white with red and purple accents; Kig-yar modified plasma rifle from the Rubble. “Because the modifications made to the plasma rifle to make it human-friendly, it was easier to enhance the type-25’s stopping power.” Increased plasma bolt damage, range, and firing speed. Slows enemy movement speed when target is hit, and accuracy decreases over time fired.

I love how badly people want the Plasma Rifle, even though it was literally the trashiest weapon in any Hale besides CE. The Storm Rifle is more powerful than any previously incarnations of the Plasma Rifle, and it will be the most redundant addition to Halo 5 yet.
