The Waypoint Off-Topic Forum

Will this ever happen? Look, I love talking about Halo. For godsakes this is Halo Waypoint, but I think it would be nice if we can get to know the Community in a different way via an off-topic forum. Please consider it, i’m sure many would love it.

Thanks!

Yo-Yo! is the place for off-topic discussion, that’s just an exception, if people want to discuss off-topic, it belongs in there or off site, we’re here to talk about Halo, not how big the pineapple we ate saw last night was.

I lol’d pretty hard right now. And thanks for the information.

Still think General Discussion should just be the off topic forum instead of just one thread.

The only problem with Yo-Yo! is that it’s a pain to get a good discussion going, since the topic seems to change every 3 posts or so. Every time I go into that thread to see what’s going on, people are talking about random stuff that’s completely different from the last time I checked on it, and it’s impossible to join in on a conversation.

One thread is just too wild if you ask me…

Tho I do agree with you, I also think that right now the way the community acts, an off topic forum board would be a really BAD idea. I mean look at the Flood, it’s full of trolls and spam.

From what ive seen, weve already got an off topic forum its called General Discussion.

And within it lies a further kind of off topic subforum, in the shape of a single famous thread that people enjoy deliberately trying to blow up to 10,000 pages long with useless banter more suited to facebook chat or something, because you know, what this website needs is to be even MORE slow and buggy. A single pointlessly implausibly massive thread with too many posts for the system to track properly should do the trick. I gather they had to lock the last iteration of it because of this. I think i said it would cause problems not long after it got started the first time and i was right.

It’s really not as bad as people think. They just let the trolls get to them real easy…I guess your right. This community would crack because of how easily offended most of the people here are.

So true. So very true.

You have a good point there. However, our forum is arguably more mature than the one on Bungie.net, and we have a good team of moderators. It’s quite possible that we’d have a better Off-Topic forum than The Flood.

Some may say that this is after all a forum dedicated to Halo, so it should be mostly Halo topics and that we should find another forum for off-topic discussions. However, a lot of members here are a good gang that I’d love to talk with about many different subjects, which isn’t possible elsewhere.

If I want off-topic, I’ll visit The Flood. I, personally, don’t think there should be anything but Halo discussion on these forums.

Agreed*

*Yo-Yo being the only exception

The same can be said for many game related forums but they all have off topic forums

At times that can be debatable

And do you know the difference between other game related forums and 343i’s forums?
They’re 343i’s forums, and this is the Halo community, I’ve pointed this a few times, the Halo community can’t be trusted with the freedom that comes with having an off topic forum board. I mean come on, we can’t even have sigs until we have 6001 posts, and I look at some of the threads here, and over at the flood, and see how people act, it’s a moderation nightmare. The only way I can see this happening is if they made it so only select people who have a certain amount of posts can view and post in that forum board. And even then, I don’t think they’d do it.

Yeah, this forum does have its spurts of immaturity sometimes… But that’s to be expected with Halo, unfortunately.

Well of course, that’s where forum users get to know one another a little better.

It’s to be expected with any sufficiently-large community centered around a well-known video game franchise. :\

I want off-topic. It would be good thing.
