The Watered Down Scrub Guide to WZ FireFight

As many of you have already seen or more rather felt, Firefight is not the alien spray down it used to be. As of today it has evolved into pure unadulterated pain.

Now for the uninitiated, Warzone FF consists of 5 waves of A.I and a garden variety of bosses, each one with varying forms and abilities. All of which end up with you dying.

But wait- there’s more! Some bosses are guarded by a never ending stream of minions whose sole purpose is to act as massive annoyances and distractions from the wave timer.

As the rounds progress and enemies get tougher and more numerous, you’ll pick up the ropes and rack less and less deaths and more and more kills.

I lied about the kills part. However you will be dying less, either because you’ve activated your bullet sponge armor mod or because you’ll be stuck soaking in the scenic layout of the map from above for 30 seconds.

Your win to loss ratio will be laughably low
until you learn the sweet spots of this game mode.

That’s why I’ve compiled all the little and quirks on the enemies you’ll be facing.

At the beggining of the match you’ll be faced with a group of standard run off the mill aliens that are both Technological and Martian in nature.

Little Ones Up Front, Big Ones in the Back:

It is highly advised to aim for the head on unshielded units. They will be the ones in the greatest numbers. Prioritise them (Unless you’re currently dealing with a boss) as they will be dealing out the most damage when massed up.

Return to Sender:

Fire Fight will require you to fight fire with fire, or plaster your enemies in AR fire. Maybe not surpisingly, the weapons that each faction wields are also the ones most devastating to them.

Plasma based weaponry can and will drop Covenant shields in a few shots, so make sure to start a Storm/Plasma Rifle collection so you can go around noob/needle combo-ing those nasty Spec Ops Elites.

Weapons as seemingly weak as the Bolt Shot will kill soldiers and destroy a Knight’s “carapace” within seconds so don’t be fooled by it’s Pew Pews (The sound of technologically advanced death). Suppressors are encouraged when prometheans begin to rush en masse. Light Rifles are also excellent in range against Prometheans, with it taking about 4-5 beams while smart scoped to kill a soldier.

You’re Such a Loud Mouth:

The Grunt Goblin is obnoxious.
It is loud, it is proud and it will break your everything.

Never get out of cover, its homing needles of death can target all 8 players at once, and it only takes about 3 or 4 to kill a well fed, fully shielded spartan.

Your greens and excellent nutrition won’t help you beat this short but tall and stocky menace. Much like the Green Goblin, it is highly advised by myself to impale it with its own weapons, which means that you should use a weapon that fires needle rounds. The actually impact and the super combine does it’s job decently if they hit in the right places.

Aim for the thruster pack located on its upper back to significantly reduce mobility and remove it’s access to the map’s verticality. The head plating is also an ideal target because much like the thruster if removed, any damage done to that area will be multiplied about this many times.

Explosives help too.

Tank Beats Everything!:
If you’ve got the reqs and energy to spend and all the time in the match (Not really) then spawning a Scorpion can quickly turn the tide of battle in your favor and just about any enemy into pudding

Needless to say that if you don’t have any big sticks in your req collection you’ve probably lost already. Scorpions will get the job done in most cases were it is just too hot to use power weapons due to their ability to 1-2 hit kill anything up to non-boss Knights.

All 3 Warden Eternals are jerks and his/their(?) Knight Champion cronies aren’t any nicer, as such this is the one time when Wraiths may actually be of use. Their ability to fire over obstacles without a clear line of sight is useful for staying out of the Promethe-Jerks’ EMP attacks and in cover, safe from the outside world.

This in combination with a barrage of Scorpion fire from your team mates (assuming they aren’t hoarding their reqs and being useless) will down all of the things in record time.

Staying at a distance from the heavy weight bosses (Specifically anything above a regular Knight) is a good idea as they usually come in packs like hot dog buns and they will repeatedly EMP your vehicle until you burst into tears and drop your lunch money. In actuality you’ll still be spilling tears and giving up precious reqs. Keeping your distance will also have the added benefit of avoiding minion cannon fire and keeping your focus on the big guys.

Hanging back with your Scorp Corps friends is a great way to not die and avoid the respawn timer which is ever so far away from breaking the land speed record.

If the Warden happens to be indoors and lazing around in your base’s team couch then power weapons are your only sad and infinitesimal hope.

Remember, tank beats everything and the Wasp is about as tanky as a paper Heli-plane.

Hope this helps.

Note* Playing with an actual fire team will probably bring space justice and democracy on a plate faster than without one.

Feel free to add things or correct me.

great post but I feel most of this is common sense. Firefight really isn’t that hard; people just need to play a bit smarter.

Well there’s a barrage of complaints flooding the forums, all centered around it being too hard.

Just about every game I went into had players ground pounding into a swarm of enemies thinking they could clean up without any consequences.

Further more, just about everyone remained very conservative with their use of reqs to fight bosses, preffering to stay back and plaster them in BR fire.

It worked more or less, but that just left everyone even more unwilling to use their big sticks until it was too late and they realized time was up. Even that was a bit frustrating as it meant they were wasting reqs they could have used as they franticly spawned in vehicles to give the 3 Wardens a tickling.

I actually decided to plug in my mic for once in the history of this kinect infested game and rattled off tips to my team.

It helped, alot and even losses rewarded us with more req packs and RP as we tried to max out our scores.

I even got some people to talk to me.

While I agree with you that breaking out the artillery is the best option, its kind of laughable when it can sometimes take up to 3 wraith shots to down a knight. I don’t mind the difficulty, what I mind is the spawning in combination with the respawn timer. Nothing makes a game more dull than waiting 30 seconds, only to spawn across the map and spend another 30 seconds running to the fight, most likely having to fight through the mass of enemies that just killed you.

The goblin is the easiest of all the bosses unless you are suddenly left alone with him.

That was a great read. Good job

you quoted the malta wrong
its actually
“Little bas tar ds upfront big ones in back”

Loved your write up!

I found out the wraith ultras are the best option in firefight towards the later rounds. Wasps are really useful in the beginning. Then i switched to wraith ultras and cleaned up pretty good. Except when those banshees and phaetons come about. So for the most part scorpions are the best bet. Super fun and yea a much needed challenge to halo 5. I didnt find it to be that difficult as people are saying. I guess if all you use is a battle rifle then i can see why. Break out the reqs baby.

In my experience so far, if you have Ultra Wraiths, use them. They wreck pretty much everything, you can take out 4 hunters in 4 shots, most high level Prometheans die in 3-4 shots, and the armor actually stands to take a huge amount of punishment. It’s even good for knocking banshees out of the air because its projectiles are so fast.

Ultra Wraith is better than a Scorpion in my opinion. The AoE projectiles also hurt Wardens/Knights more because the secondary projectiles land behind them or on the side, which does more damage, as well as having much more maneuverability. It always seems like when I use a tank, I shoot Warden Eternal in the face 40 times and it does no damage at all.

Ultra Wraith for life. It’s a -Yoink!- WZFF hovering death machine.

WZFF it´s about Tanks lol!

10/10 would read again OP
