The Wasp is NOT a Phaeton Reskin

Ok people, let’s get one thing straight: the Wasp is NOT a Phaeton reskin. It’s NOT the same vehicle.

There are significant differences between the two and the Banshee, which I will outline below. Each serves their own purpose and function.

Banshee: Purpose: All-around utility flyer. Armor: moderate. Movement: general flying vehicle, fast
Phaeton: Purpose: Tank of the skies. Armor: heavy. Movement: 6 DOF, VTOL, slow
Wasp: Purpose: Hit-and-run flyer, specializing in ambushes. Armor: light. Movement: 6 DOF, VTOL, fast

Yes, the weapons and basic movement of the Phaeton and Wasp are very similar, but there are key differences that differentiate the two significantly. The Phaeton is much slower and more durable, serving the purpose of a tank in the air. Conversely, the Wasp is fast but fragile. You must be careful to not let its shields go down, or it will be destroyed very quickly. Therefore, you must use hit-and-run attacks on your enemies to deal fast damage and get out before you’re destroyed.

The two vehicles are going to play very differently, requiring different tactics, so stop calling the Wasp a Phaeton reskin.

Not to mention they look very different to each other. I can’t wait to use it, though I only hope it isn’t as rare as the Phaeton.

This, They are quite different shapes. and as for the rockets and machine guns load out, the Hornet had that in Halo 3.

I’ll be interested to see how it handles. Not going to diss it before it comes out, but I was hoping for either a throwback vehicle (Falcon, Hornet) or an actual jet. I think this operates more like a harrier unfortunately.

I agree OP, thanks for posting. All I’m personally exciting for is hopping on the back of a Goblin and riding that bull till the sun sets… yippee ki yay!

going to hop into forge on release immediately for science.

Damn right. Good to hear. I’m getting real tired of people hating 343 not just when they actually screw up, but when they deliver exactly what we asked them for.

“Oh, I wanted a team-based air vehicle. I expected 343 to be able to read my mind. 343’s lack of psychic powers is killing Halo.”

Yeah, I never heard “team-based” specific until they showed the Wasp. All the posts said “we want a UNSC air vehicle.” How were they supposed to know?

Personally, I wouldn’t describe Phaetons as the tank of the skies. I’ve taken a few out with small arms- they seem flimsy.

Tank of the skies by 343 standards. They make all vehicles in their games out of construction paper.

I was really hoping for a more beneficial teamplay vehicle like the falcon. A nose machinegun and two miniguns would be perfect for warzone on certain maps.
