The Warthog needs buffed!

Seriously, warthogs are crap now. If you are a gunner you are guaranteed to be shot out, generally before you get a kill.

The turret either needs to have a larger surface area to block bullets or buff the shields because currently, warthogs are crap, especially in BTB.

Loadout weapons have been made extremely accurate at long ranges to the point it is fairly easy to shoot gunners out of the 'hogs.

While I’m here, how about you guys fix ghosts as well? These vehicles are supposed to be splattering machines, and yet I can run into enemies, get flipped upside down on the first guy I encounter because I run him over, or how about when my ghost is flipped and I attempt to flip it back up and the damn thing does a 360 degree turn, knocking my head and nearly killing me only to be still upside down again.

I do agree that the gunner of the warthog need better protection. I have never experience though any problem with driving the ghost like you mention. Only thing is sometimes I have run full speed on an enemy to not get the kill but get boarded and sometimes I barely touch them for the splatter

I remember in Halo reach warthogs were as good as tanks…

There was this one time on BTB, I was driving a hog and my gunner got 35 kills, this was all without either of us dying…the biggest streak he ever had in that game!

Warthogs make the gunner so vulnerable now that people generally don’t want to get in with you…I have to sound the horn for ages to make my team get in, most ignore :frowning:

I don’t disagree that the Warthog gunner could use some side panels. I think the problem is mostly in two things. First, the hog is iconic to the series, so they are afraid to change it. Second, when the warthog was originally designed it was playing on bigger-wide-open maps and not every single player had a long ranged precision weapon like they do now.

reach was built for vehicles. 343 kicked all that out with halo 4

I think the Hog gunner should have better protection straight ahead so it’s harder to be killed by someone you’re shooting at. But I think the sides are fair game. If you get team shot from a flank, that’s just a good play.

Can we at least get Wheelman to add to Assists in stats?

Reach had the worst Warthog of the franchise. The overheat was hyper-sensitive, it was entirely too bouncy, pretty fragile.

The H5 version is somewhere between the Reach and the H3 version. The H3 had a mean turret and was highly durable, and the precision weapons in H3 blew. H5 is vulnerable because of the precision weapons, but the gun is pretty strong (I’d guess it’s the single strongest turret) and handles well once you get a hold for it.

Warthogs do not need buffed. However the gunners do need to be a bit stronger. There basically just -Yoinking!- tooth picks

Agreed, the warthog is a deathtrap for the gunner. I would normally chalk it up to my being bad at halo, but I’ve never seen anyone do well with it.

ONI hogs could get a overshield/bubble shield around the gunner so that it would take 2-4 more shots to take them out.

The warthog gunners need some sort of better protection at least for the non guass hog variants. Its to easy to get head shot off when your the gunner.

The difference between Warthogs in this game and previous ones is that like a lot of things, they have been redesigned with team play in mind. Warthog gunners are a lot more vulnerable than they used to be, which means a Warthog benefits greatly from A. having a good driver who keeps the Hog moving fast enough to discourage enemy shots and slow enough to not disrupt aim too much and B. having back up in the form of Spartans on foot or other vehicles. Warthogs can still be super effective, but like virtually all of the changes 343 has made, they require players to think about what they are doing and how they are playing. Like with most everything in the game, if you are communicating with your team and they are backing you up, you’ll do much better.

Some people hate that, preferring a more mindless reflex driven game, others like it preferring a deeper level of tactical engagement and communication between teammates.

Damn, if you think Reach’s hog was good I wish you could have experienced H3’s. Those were the days where the Warthog reined supreme!

So i agree completely that the vehicles have been rendered almost useless. it is harder to shoot someone off a mongoose than a warthog gunner now. I’ve shot someone straight in the face (on numerous occasions) while they were on a mongoose (point blank range) and not kill them. obviously the driver of vehicles have some sort of shield, but the gunner of a warthog does not.

my biggest problem with the vehicles is that they act like they weigh 100lbs instead of tons. the warthog will hit a tiny bump at half speed and roll or spin around. its by far the worst controls of any warthog yet. i can also second what the OP wrote about the ghost. numerous times I’ve tried to splatter someone and just been sent flying through the air, not get the splatter, and usually die because I’ve been flipped. I’ve seen this happen to others as well. Not acceptable. (doesnt seem to happen with upgraded ghosts in warzone, just btb. thanks 343)

the mongoose is easier to get kills with than the warthog. the new warthog takes some skill. being able to hop between seats is a good added feature that can help anyone struggling with gunning a warthog. i used to avoid them until i got betteer at this trick. just switch to the passenger seat when your shields are getting low to get more cover, then switch back to gunner when you’re healed. I’ve seen people go off in BTB on the warthog, both gauss and regular (especially the gauss). it does still happen, but it is rare.

wheelman should always be assists, its really too bad they don’t count as such anymore.

Warthogs just suck right now. Simple as that, you don’t even need a power weapon to take them out.

I believe it’s been confirmed a bug with wheelmen and will fixed to count as assists as well.

I honestly have no idea what you mean I jumped to the top of the board with almost 35 total kills (not all in hog but at least 20 kills/assists) the first time I got into a normal hog with only 2 lives and I suck at the game.

You know when you board thanks you get that extra armor! And you’re hard to shot off. Well I think that hug gunners should have that same extra shield boost, it’s the extra needed without affecting balance toi much because the gunner is still venurable just would take 7-8 shots instead cause I think it’s a bit stupid I can 1v1 a warthog with my pistol and still get the same time to kill!

i played a warzone assault match with you last night

i did terrible because i was half paying attention

always good to see familiar ppl

I don’t think you get extra armour in tanks.
