The Warthog needs a buff

In Halo 4 there are a lot more vehicle destroy weapons at your disposal(Plasma pistol, Plasma grenade, ordinance ect) and any time you go near an enemy controlled area in a warthog you are immediately destroyed. The warthog is my favourite vehicle and it feels underwhelming in H4, it needs a damage boost or to be more resistant to damage because at the moment it feels like a death trap.

We just gotta be more creative or cautious when occupying it/ that’s all :stuck_out_tongue:

I have found that all you can do is keep moving and don’t stop. Plasma Pistol was nerfed so that its tracking is poor so you have that advantage. My advice, don’t drive at anyone who is facing you. Odds are they have the Plasma Pistol or Stickies and are just waiting for you.

I agree. With all the anti vehicle weapons in this game you will most likely end up in a pile of flaming wreckage very quickly. Man even the DMR’s can turn vehicles into swiss cheese.

Yep this is good advice. I bait warthog drivers all the time. Stand in the open like you are derping it up and the driver will always and I mean always will try to hit you. Meanwhile I just jump over the warthog at the last second and drop a sticky nade on his -Yoink- and booooom DOUBLE KILL.

No matter how good you are with the Warthog, I still agree that the vehicle itself needs a buff. It’s way too easily destroyed even with bullets.

Thank the DMR for that. Its still a freaking Anti-Vehicle weapon. Same as it was in Reach

Don’t forget about the Ghost. And many other vehicles.

No the issue isn’t that we need to be more creative or cautious, it’s that the warthog has been nerfed AND there are about 10 new threats added to the game for the 'hog. The warthog in its current state sucks. It’s really sad.

You know the only thing that needs a buff is your driver. And maybe your gunning skills as a passenger, if that. Fire at will wisely.

It takes more punishment then the halo reach hog. And the damage is fine i get plenty of kills in the turret.

i for one never find myself getting splatter kills in a warthog, unless accidental

i use warthogs as a distance weapon, they aren’t shotguns on wheels, they have range behind them

but at the same time, they aren’t mobile sniper rifles, to try to keep somewhat close…

My only gripes: still prone to flipping in non-combat driving and unreliable splatter.

Agree with OP. The Warthog has become kind of redundant since Halo:reach. Only the Gauss 'Hog is really worth anything in matchmaking. It’s too easily flipped over, and is also very easy to destroy thanks to the AP capabilities on the DMR and Sniper Rifle.

I want the Halo 3 Warthog back. Back then, the Warthog could either be an invaluable asset or a death trap depending on the combined skills of the driver and gunner. Now it’s just a death trap. I’m lucky if I get one kill on the turret before it blows up.

343i could make a simple fix by reducing player Weapon/Melee Damage by 50%, and also reducing player Damage Resistance by 50%. The result is that players on foot do the same ammount damage to each other, but do less damage against vehicles. I tried it in Reach, and it worked pretty well. The vehicle feel just like they did in Halo 3 with those settings.

Being more cautious isn’t the answer. I’ve played a lot of H3/Reach and those warthogs were fine, its because the enemy have more variety in weapons they’re able to destroy the warthog easier. The chain-gun feels underwhelming against Spartans where as the gauss canon is really powerful, I think the chain-gun needs a tweak to keep up with Halo’s changing game mechanics.

Yes, they should definitely be more durable. They’re an improvement over Reach but they are still too weak.
